I've been making 7.5 inch (finished) Wedding Ring blocks from scraps for a couple of years now as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project. At the end of last month I found I needed 17 more blocks toward my goal of 144 blocks for a BIG quilt. So I made 17 more blocks. Now there's some assembly required.
Just an FYI - this block goes by several other names like Crown of Thorns, Odd Scraps Patchwork, Georgetown Circle, Memory Wreath and Single Wedding Ring.

Whatever name you call them, they are fabulous! I’m excited to see the finish!
Call them whatever, I like these a lot! I look forward to seeing these as a quilt.
What a lot of different names for the one block. You have done well to finish making the extra 17 blocks. Looking forward to seeing the flimsy.
Some assembly required? LOL!! Another pretty quilt top coming right up.
Love these! I might steal this idea for next year. Have fun assembling!
I always love seeing your wedding ring blocks, and they're going to make a great quilt! I have several groups of blocks that are in the "some assembly required" category!
Love it!
great colors
Yes. I know this design as Crown of Thorns. It's one of the first Amish quilts I ever saw and I've always wanted to make it. Congrats on getting close to your goal.
There is so much detail in your blocks . . . sew pretty. This quilt will be a true treasure.
Happy Quilting,
Connie :)
Love, love, LOVE these adorable blocks! Good luck with the "assembly". At least there are no batteries that need to be included. (Can you tell I live in a world of kids' toys?) This will be an amazing quilt.
Wonderful blocks, Cathy, but I don't envy you having to nest all those seams when you sew them together. (I'm trying to think of quilt names that are a play on the word "ring," but so many wedding ring songs are sad or too lovey-dovey. Then I found an Irish folksong that conjures a different image entirely! https://withstringsattached.blogspot.com/2009/11/twilight-sampler.html............So I think I'd go with Georgetown Circle!)
Your blocks look lovely, but goodness, all those small HSTs! But you have taken it all in your stride and completed all the required blocks for a big quilt, great work!
Oh boy, I have been waiting to see how this one looks with them all together. Sew excited!
This will be a wonderful scrappy quilt. Love this block as it was one contender for my gazillions HSTs. I know it as Crown of Thorns too. Looking forward to seeing more of it. ;^)
I like this block design and am curious to see how you decide to set them.
This is going to be a fabulous quilt!
These are lovely blocks, but look like really uncomfortable rings. So many spikes around the edges! I'm glad to hear there are other names. Crown of Thorns seems more accurate to me :)
Congratulations on wrapping up another one!
I have one prepped to make in dark green, red, and cheddar (solids) - yours inspired mine.
Found yourself in a Thorny Situation? Congrats on accumulating enough blocks to put this one together! Sandy at sewhigh.blogspot.com
I love these blocks so much! (Guess what block is at the top of my RSC2021 list)
