Coneflowers, A Duck in a Dress, and a Sock

I have finished the second prompt to the Bramble Blooms QAL - "Add simple floral applique to your centerpiece background."

I chose Coneflowers as my simple floral. I did needleturn applique - freezer paper templates on top. I played around with adding some leaves to my Coneflowers  but they just did not look right to me no matter where I placed them.  So now I guess I am ready for the next step of this QAL.

I think she is a duck but she might be a chick. This is where I am with this cross stitch. When finished it will be the center of a baby quilt.

And guess what!!! I actually finished crocheting a sock!

And I think it fits although maybe the heel could use a little adjustment. Maybe... Not bad for my first crocheted sock. Pretty wild, though! I guess now I need to complete the second one or make a sock monkey.

So that's the progress on my slow stitching projects. Until next time...

Great progress on your slow stitching projects. The coneflowers don't need leaves, IMHO. They look great as they are. Love the sock! ;^)

Love your coneflowers! And yes, it is a duck... her name is Suzy Quacker... from a collection of characters from Suzy's Zoo. I forget the name of the person who created them.

The coneflowers look great - I love the bright saturated colors. And the sock is fun - make the mate so you can show them off!

I love your coneflowers! (You knew you had me at purple and orange!)
Knitters refer to Second Sock Syndrome - where the first sock goes like lightning and the second sock gets nothing but procrastination and more procrastination. (Good luck!)

A crochet sock, that's different. Better get busy again or you will catch the dreaded "second sock syndrome".

Beautiful cone flowers, with your signature bright colors! Sometimes leaves are hard, and sometimes, leaves aren't needed. The wonderful thing about this quilt is that if you should decide something more is needed, you can always add it later.
Your sock looks warm and comfy.

Loving how your coneflowers came out==so bright and cheerful...nice work --my piece is resting until after Thanksgiving...need to baste it all in place and then embroider...too much going on in these next few days prepping for hosting our family on Friday....hugs, Julierose

The coneflowers look great, so colorful and fun. I looked at what you said;
"Add simple floral applique to your centerpiece background."
and realized I didn't remember the simple part. I'm going to have to read the instruction more carefully next round.

I was a little surprised to see applique and crochet on your post. I am looking forward to seeing your improv top. It will be fun to see how it progresses. Looking forward to seeing the baby quilt with the "duck". So cute. I do crochet and knit but I have never tried to make socks! You did great!
