It's a Flimsy: Star Chain

Star Chain
56 x 70

Star Chain was the March 2014 Block Lotto block of the month.  I won most of these. I guess the pile was waiting for me to make a couple more blocks.  Unfortunately two ladies, mother and daughter,  didn't send me blocks like they were supposed to.  That has been the only time I've ever known in all my years with Block Lotto that ladies did not follow through and send blocks.  Some folks are just like that, I guess.   But I can't look a gift horse in the mouth. The blocks I did receive are lovely - even the one that had part of the chain going in the wrong direction.  It was an easy fix.

Its a very pretty flimsy - I like the block, and the way the different fabrics sparkle. I sometimes think that bee quilts can turn out to be more beautiful than if I just made it all from my stash - it is the magic of the unexpected fabrics that one person would never put together by themselves.

Love the flimsy you have made from your lotto blocks. Good fun.

Lucky win! The quilt top looks great! I really like that block, and the blocks all work together well. It's fun to win Block Lotto. Sorry that you didn't get all your winnings - I remember reading some of that on the blog. But all in all, Block Lotto worked really well.

Matter of fact, I think I still have at least one set of winning blocks to put together still. I should get those out and take a look at them!

Very nice! That's a new block for me. I like how the centers sort of twinkle :)

Very cute design. I've never seen it before. It must be fun to get blocks in the mail. Do you choose the design and color? What is your obligation?

I really like how it turned out. You must have fixed the one with the chains wrong because I couldn't find it. I finally quit doing swaps because it's hard to count on everyone. Most of the time they make it, but sometimes they don't. Also, I have had to redo blocks due to wrong seem size. Also, I have gotten poor quality fabric. I use them anyway because that I consider that is the best they could do. Yours turned out very nice and it has a story.

Such a pretty top. I like the stars on greens and the way they twinkle with their x-fabrics. I'm glad you finally got this put together.

Lovely, I like the Ohio Stars and the four patches in the corners, and the 'chain'.
You fixed it up just right. Sometimes things don't turn out like they were supposed to
and then we have to fly by the seat of our pants. That's what scrappy is all about I
think.
