Dove in the Window
It's a top!
84 x 84
I've been wanting to take pictures all day but we have had 20-35 mile per hour winds and snow flurries and hail off and on. I just noticed a break in the weather so ran out for a photo shoot.
This has been one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) projects this year. I chose several blocks that use 3.5 and 2 inch pieces cut from a scrap chunk in the RSC color of the month.
I used mostly small print florals because I wanted a sort of vintage look.
Laura Ingalls Wilder (Little House on the Prairie) made a Doves in the Window quilt for her hope chest.
I used the instructions for the block found in Ladies' Art Company Block Tool. It's a treasure trove of vintage blocks. Depending upon number of fabrics used in the block and fabric placement the blocks look very different.

Very pretty and it does have a vintage look.
it is so lovely and you sure got the vintagey feel.
That looks so fresh and cheerful. You've reminded me that I have a set of these blocks simmering in the cupboard, somewhere...
I've never seen this pattern before. You did a beautiful job. Thanks for sharing.
Beautimous, Cathy!!!
I love this beautiful wash of colors!
That is gorgeous!! What a perfect RSC project too.
We have 30-40 mph winds and light snow yesterday too. It howled all the night before, and finally calmed down late in the afternoon.
What a beautiful quilt top. There is something special about vintage looking fabrics with an old fashioned block. SO pretty!
You got your Dove in the Window top together very quickly. It looks great. One for your Heirloom Chest perhaps?
This is my kind of quilt - small florals and vintage looking! I have that Ladies' Art Company Block Tool. I picked it up at a thrift store awhile ago but I haven't used it yet. I keep forgetting about it. Thanks for the reminder.
That's such a great design, Cathy! The blocks and the color did all the work. This one is the perfect example of why I love a rainbow quilt!
Another fantastic quilt top from your plethora of scraps. Well done Cathy :-)

One of the last times I read Laura's series of books I looked up Dovr in the Window and wondered which one was the one she made. You have created a beauty.
