Orphan Norton Finished

Orphan Norton
40 x 48
It's a finish!

And I did it! I have finished 31 quilts this month. That was my goal - one for each day.

This one has blue and white orphan blocks. Some were framed so they ended up at 12.5 inches (unfinished). A 2.5 inch blue and white striped sashing was added between columns.

I quilted it with swirls on my DSM (Brother PQ1500SL).

And here you can see the backing and binding.

The theme this month in my sewing space is March Madness (Quilting) Marathon.  I'm going to concentrate on finishing up a lot of the small tops I have in the TBQ (to be quilted) pile.  They will then be donated to:

And sew on...

CELEBRATE! (My word of the year)

March 29 - State and federal Taxes filed. Nothing to pay, thank goodness, and we will get a few dollars back - but it's not even enough to even spend it all in one place.

March 30 - Today I want to celebrate all the friends I've made through blogging. Thank you for all the prayers, positive thoughts and virtual hugs I've received over the years. Thank you for  all the words of encouragement and support.  Thank you laughs and smiles. Thank you for the time you take out of your day to make comments. And thank you for the gifts I receive from time to time that keep me sewing. I don't have to meet you all in person to know you are all real.

That was some kind of March Madness challenge, Cathy, and congratulations on your successful completion of a quilt finish for every day of the month!!!

Your March Madness was truly inspirational, Cathy! You are amazing! Somehow you accomplish so much! I don't know how you do it. Maybe you have an ultra hyper personality with boundless energy. Maybe you have found the secret to packing in 32 hours in a 24 hour day. I dunno, but I admire you for sure! Happy Easter! :)

That’s an amazing number of finishes for March- what an achievement. I don’t think you can beat a blue and white combination. Some very lovely blocks. I especially like the way you added the blue and white little flowers sashing to extend the block. I love your
gratitude comment about all your blogger friends support and love.

That's amazing, 31 quilts quilted this month! That's such a lot of work with the pinning, quilting and binding. Are you planning on slowing down a little now, to get your breath back?

Well, since this is the 30th and you posted early this morning, that means there were two days when you quilted 2 quilts. Hopefully you are taking Easter Sunday off as a day of well deserved rest.
And in response to your daily celebration, you're welcome. Quilters do make the best friends. My four best friends are all quilters and we've supported each other for years through thick and thin. And I'm thankful for the many online quilter friends I have made. It's quite a community.

Congratulations on your 31 days of quilt finishes. Every one of them was spectacular including the last one. I love how you mixed the blues and blocks. We will probably never see those quilts again but I pray that the recipients can feel your love in these quilts and be comforted. Thank you for being so kind to others by freely sharing your talent.

Sashing individual blocks is a clever way to fit them all in. Another lovely cheerful quilt. Your work and donations are an inspiration to us all. PS: I’m glad your taxes are done; we’re still finalizing ours.

This quilt is a blue and white stunner. Looks like all the blocks were made specifically for this quilt. What an unbelievable accomplishment in one month.
