My Version of the Center

This is my version of the center of a vintage inspired quilt.  It is 44 inches square and consists of sashed twelve inch Broken Wheel blocks.
I made the blocks from old men's shirts. The next round is Flying Geese. I  was going to make the Flying Geese from shirts and from 1930s reproduction fabric scraps channeling grandma who made most of her quilts from old shirts and dresses.  I was looking around for something to use for sashing and came across a big piece of fabric in one of my 30s repro bins that seemed just right. I am not sure I have enough for the entire quilt but I will cross that road when I get there.

I need some shirt pieces for another UFO so I think I will cut pieces enough to finish that quilt before I start making the Flying Geese for this one.
This is the quilt that inspired me.

I like your choice of sashing. Unusual colour choice which contrasts nicely with the shirt blocks.

A beautiful reinterpretation of your original. The sashing on both is fantastic and I always like medallion style.

I always meant to try the rolling stone blocks but, so far, haven't. I like the sashing that you used. (why isn't sashing a real word?) The inspiration quilt does look interesting. I'm still trying to finish up Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt among other things. I have decided to leave it the smaller size that it is and use it for a lap quilt. That way it might be easier to quilt on my DSM.

Great center, the plaids are perfect, and good choice on the sashing.
That inspiration quilt is a beauty.
Thanks for more quilty goodness.

You are on a great start to reproducing the original. I am inspired, too. That arrangement would be a good way to use some orphan blocks.

Love how you make choices by the seat of your pants! I love the way shirt fabric just make a quilt look vintage.

Looks like you decided to keep your blocks the way you showed them last week. I like them very much! I can only work with plaids for a short while before the "line 'em up straight" part of my brain starts to protest.
