A Girl Can Dream

It's time to state our third quarter Finish-Along goals. I don't have air conditioning so if the heat wave continues through the summer I'm not sure I'll get anything finished but a girl can dream.  Also if I don't leave the hermitage to get out and buy some batting I don't think I will accomplish many finishes either. Almost all my small pieces of batting have been sewn together and used so I guess I'm not really batty at the moment.  I

Anyway...the goals...

1. Zig Zag Nine Patch...I was originally going to quilt this on machine by following the zig zags but now that I really think about it...that's a lot of pivoting. I think it might be faster for me to hand quilt.  I wasn't going to put any hand quilting goals on the list this quarter but it won't hurt to have one ready just in case.

2.  Another Nine Patch
3. Salmagundi Road

4. Pansies
6.  Down the Beaten Path
7. Rosebuds

8.  Autumn Orphans (one on left - the other two were previously finished).
9. School of Fish

10. Postage Stamp Rainbow Sue.  - hand quilting almost finished. Just need one more cool day.

11. Ship Ahoy - I need five more blocks.
 12. Pillow to be made from this embroidery I recently finished.
 13. Four Valentine Placemats and four napkins

14. Cat and Rabbit Pillows

15.  Bow Ties

It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life does not lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy of life lies in having no goal to reach. - Benjamin Mays

You have such a lot on your list! Enough for a year or so I would think.

Goals are useful guides - and dreams are essential!

Wow! I thought I had a lot of tops to quilt but you may have me beat! Good luck getting them all done soon! I just ordered a new roll of batting myself. I don't do any hand quilting though! I have a long arm, thank heavens!

I am always in awe of your use of fabrics and color. I LOVE all of the happy, scrappy quilts. Zigzag Nines is FABULOUS! Postage Stamp Rainbow Sue I'll have to keep my eye on that one. I have all of those Sues done (including all of the embroidery), but have not decided on the borders. LOVE yours! Happy stitching!

All of those are so special, each in its own way. Wish I could dream like you do! ---"Love"

And dollars to doughnuts you will get most of these done....At first I thought to suggest quilting the zig zags with diagonal lines but I looked again and saw that they're offset. I am sure you will find a solution!

You've got quite a lineup there but I'm pretty sure you will reach your goals. Your Zig Zag Nines is incredible! From where I'm sitting, I count 421 nine patches. I'm trying to figure out if they are 3" or 4.5". I guess it depends on the size of your quilt. I'm assuming you are keeping this one. Nobody except another quilter would appreciate all the time and effort that went into the making of this beauty.

I don't think I know anyone more productive that yiu. But I understand about the heat. No AC here either so both the qui l ting and gardening suffer.

Oh my, such beauty! The 9 patch is my favorite! Sometimes it seems the simplest of designs speak to me. Good luck reaching your goals! I'm rootin' for ya!

Each of these gorgeous pieces deserves to be finished and off to do good in the world. Worthy goals, indeed. Good luck! I hope the weather cooperates. We had a cool day today and I tackled my biggest UFO. Tomorrow will be hot and I'll wonder what the heck I was thinking...

What a line-up! I hope you manage to keep going, lack of batting and air conditioning notwithstanding.

You've got me all swoony over many of these. Ah, the colors! I can't wait to see what gets done and how you quilt them. On behalf of the FAL crew, good luck!

Quite a fabulous collection, Cathy. The Streak of Lightning set of the nine patches inspires me. I could use up a bunch of solids and tiny scraps. Yay. And then the striped sashing on the next. Rosebud has long be a favorite block. Your quilt is one of the best I’ve seen: the double HST sashing makes perfect thorns among the roses. So much to admire. Thanks for sharing.
