When I previously blogged about the Fan Flowers quilt I had all of the sets of Fans made and needed to add the circle to the Fan blocks and then make the Flower and Leaf blocks. I have now done that for the first set of 3 blocks.
Just a reminder that I am using a free pattern called Fan Flower Quilt from Tilda's World.

CELEBRATE! (my word of the year)
Feb. 12- Crocus in bloom! I could not believe my eyes when I went out the back door to do a garden walk. Right near the clothesline and in the lawn where the squirrels have moved the bulbs over the years was a crocus with blooms. I have never ever seen crocus in bloom in February here!

We've gotten about 6" of heavy, wet snow here on the CT coastline...
still snowing at noon now...
It is pretty swathing on all the trees and bushes....

This is early for crocus but it has been a warmer than normal winter except for that one arctic blast. The snow came first and insulated the ground before the extreme cold hit too so I think we might see a lot of early plants this year.
The fan flowers are pretty! I love crocus', spring is coming!
I don't recall seeing this block before. A lovely way to use fan blocks. Will yours be all in yellow and red or more of a rainbow colour?
We had a thunderstorm this week with lightning and all. Very peculiar for this time of the year. It feels more like April than February, which is usually our coldest month of the year. Enjoy the crocus! ;^)
I went on a walk in the neighborhood this morning and saw a patch of snowdrops- I couldn't believe it! I bought a Tilda fat quarter bundle last fall (I don't know what possessed me) and have looked at her free patterns, but don't remember that one. I will go back and look. They are certainly very unique. Yours look wonderful.

This week, I think I have learned to save the links to patterns when you offer them. LOL I glanced over the instructions. I would never have considered that pattern as a scrap quilt and I certainly wouldn't have bought the fabric and material. The material list was a whole page long!That's enough to turn me off but I love your version. The inspiration was is nice but yours is going to be fabulous!
I consider that crocus as a special gift from God just for you!
I love your fan flowers - and a real live crocus in February where you are is a celebration, indeed. Our daffodils are up and budded - haven't found any open yet but we're back to freezing or near-freezing nights again so I hope the blooms don't open just yet.

I agree with Pamela (above). I would never buy all the fabrics, as described in the pattern, to make this quilt. Your great talent lies in re-imagining quilt patterns by using what you have. I often wonder how quilt and fabric designers feel about this when I ‘reinterpret’ a pattern using what I have.

Love the way your fan flowers are coming out. Such wonderful colors. I will have to pay attention to the crocus and see if they are coming out and can survive the ferocious rabbits.
