It's a Flimsy! Flashes of Brilliance

It's a flimsy!
Flashes of Brilliance

The pattern, inspired by a vintage quilt,  is by Pam Buda and was published in American Patchwork and Quilting October 2015.

 Every once in awhile I like to really challenge myself. I really wasn't sure I could actually make these blocks let alone a whole quilt of them.

Ah, the thrill of meeting a challenge!

I can't believe I made this! I actually made this!  AND I think I have a plan for the scraps.

Now into the hand quilting pile it goes!

&&&

 My January OMG (One Monthly Goal) was to assemble at least one top from the large box of complete block sets.  This is top #4.    Quilt top #1 to be assembled was Dakota Farmer (Stars).  Quilt top #2 was Blue Economy Blocks.  Quilt top #3 was Clarissa.

It's just simply gorgeous! And oh, so fun. You did a fabulous job choosing colors, stitching, and putting it all together. Well done!
You know, this is one of those very few circular blocks that has 6 points instead of 8, which always makes me think of snowflakes.

You pulled this one together fast. I wondered how you were going to set these blocks. I have a pattern by Jaybird Quilts that is this same block only one round smaller. I'm going to give it a try in this size when I get caught up with some other projects. This is spectacular.

A lovely quilt. Those stars are really spinning and whirling. The blocks look very complicated so I congratulate you on sticking with them and creating this lovely flimsy.

Wow! Great job! And don't you just love that feeling some quilts give? That "wow, I actually made this!" feeling? That is the very reason we should always challenge ourselves! Love it!

I often feel that way about quilts I make. =) This is a beauty, and I can see where it would have been challenging. Congratulations on finishing the top!
