Back in December I blogged that I wanted to dig into my skinny strings and make a few quilts. At that time one of the UFOs I wanted to move forward was a Crossed Block Quilt. Now I'm happy to say I have made 38 more blocks with my skinny strings (well, I had to use a few fat strings too) and now I have 48 blocks - enough for a nice sized quilt.
The blocks finish at 9.5 inches.
Now they are going to go into the big "some assembly required" box of complete block sets.
All month I've been cutting a few "peacock feathers" (Dresden wedges) to move a UFO forward.
When I blogged about Peacock Feathers back in December I needed over 700 more pieces. I've met that goal.
Now Peacock Feathers is also in the "some assembly required" box.
Last month the "some assembly required" box contained the following block sets:
Animal Crackers II
Pastel Roses
'30s repro Economy Blocks
Wishing Rings
Wedding Rings
16 Patch
Double X/Snowball (vintage inspired)
I've crossed four off of the list because I assembled those tops this month.
And this month I have added to the box:
Crossed Quilt
Sunny Lanes
Peacock Feathers
February's OMG (One Monthly Goal) is to assemble at least one top from the list above.

Hmm, interesting cross. Must be an original secret family recipe because I've never seen one like this. You should call it Cathy's Cross block. 😉 Love the "some assembly required" box. I call mine "sewing capsules" because everything is ready for sewing. Funny how we all work the same way yet it's all different. Good luck with your goal. ;^)

Well, I'm glad you didn't finish all of the UFOs in January. Now you'll have something to work on in February and March. Of course, if you add 3 new projects to the assembly box and finish four quilts from the box each month, it will be a while before you empty the box. I'm actually making progress on a needed baby quilt and finished a table topper for the challenge, so things are looking up here.

What a great title for a box of UFOs! "Some" is such a useful word; it suggests a little, but it could actually mean "a lot"! It also separates these projects from the finished tops. i think I'll make this distinction too.
I like the crossed strings block, and the peacock feathers. I've never even seen fabric with peacock feathers, let alone have enough variety to make a whole quilt!

I saved the Crossed Block several years ago....it comes to the surface of the pattern pile every so often. You're inspiring me (again)!
"some assembly required" describes most of the quilts I have ever tried to make. Most of them are in some form of stalled assembly. A lot of them just need to be quilted. I made up a list recently of all the WIPS or UFOs, and in no time at all I had 2 pages totaling 24 quilts. I really would like to see these quilts finished but it's just so much more fun starting new ones.
What a collection of peacock feathers, Cathy. You must have enough fabric to open a quilt shop. If I thought I could move UFOs along as well as you, I'd have an assembly required box, too. Congratulations on moving four of them out in one month.
