Blue Bits And Pieces

I used up a few 1.5 inch pieces of blue this week to make some Double Irish Chain blocks. I have been using the RSC color of the month as well as a dark brown for the chain and a light brown or cream for the background. I started these some time last year and I now have 39 out of the desired 63 blocks.

And then I made a few other odds and ends and the last little blue bits then got cut into 1.5 inch squares and went into my postage stamp pencil box which was almost empty.

Those Double Irish Chain blocks are going to make a great quilt! I like all those other useful bits you get out of your scraps, too. Lots of good ideas!

So many great blocks. What will happen when you run out of fabric and scraps?

Seen as individual blocks the brown with blue wouldn't appeal to me but when all the combinations come together in all the blocks -- the overall effect is great! I predict that pencil box will fill up when you turn your back.

I don't have many solids and forget how nice quiet light prints work with Irish Chains. It's a good way to use up some tiny squares.

Wow, that is a lot of blue. Glad to see you could put it to good use.

Your dark blue odds & ends look great. Good variety. Loving the Irish Chain blocks too. Look similar to my Bonnie Hunter's Irish Courthouse blocks. They're fun to make, aren't they?
