It's a Finish! Blue Skies and Butterflies

 Blue Skies and Butterflies
64 x 80

It's a finish!

I started making these in 2015 to use waste triangles to make butterflies ...
...and a variety of blue 2.5 inch scraps for the sky.

I used a variegated thread...

...to quilt flowers and leaves on my DSM.

There's more butterflies on the back.

I think I had that butterfly fabric at one time and used it for a back of a quilt and for some fussy cutting - nice quilt!

I love this quilt. Those little colorful corners transitioned into such a beautiful quilt. The quilt stitching and thread used are perfect.

I LOVE this! I have tons of blue "chunks" and have been wondering what to do with them. I had already done a two color quilt using the blues and while it was nice it just didn't "do it" for me. These bits of color are perfect. I think I will do another blue quilt! Thanks for the inspiration!

A really lovely quilt finish. That blue sky is a stunning background to those fluttering butterflies, they definitely soar!

Beautiful Cathy! You are making me rethink all those triangle bits I toss in my trash. I feel the need right now to sort them out. Thanks(?) for sharing with Oh Scrap! :)

I love, love, love this quilt! There is a large bag in my sewing room filled with bonus triangles just waiting for a project like this. You have probably inspired my next project. Sandy at sewhigh.blogspot.com

Flitter, flutter -- a charming result! I think "bonus unit" is more appropriate than "waste triangle" -- especially for you.

How clever to mix your tiny butterflies on a variety of blues for the front and combine them with a large print of butterflies on the back! Congratulations on another great finish. Are you keeping this one?
