Old World Finish

It's a finish!
Old World
67.5 x 81

I started making Old World Blocks back in late September 2023 from  civil war reproduction fabric bits and pieces.

I quilted it on my sewing machine with horizontal and vertical lines.

I was also going to add diagonal lines through each block because I thought I needed some quilting in the center of each block. But I really wanted to keep quilting at a minimum and very simple. I had some brown #10 crochet cotton and decided to use that to tie the center of each block. You can't really see those brown ties in the centers in the photos but I like how that looked and was just the right touch.

The back and scrappy binding. The backing looks washed out in the photo. It's actually a woven and faded looking fabric in a couple of different browns. I bought the yardage a long time ago when I was still working (I retired in 2017). I remember it was on clearance at Hobby Lobby for around $3 per yard and all that was left was 6 yards. I finally found a good use for it - the selvage said it was called "Antique Texture".

And sew on...

Oh, we have had such beautiful weather. I've been working nearly every day out in the gardens. Lots more on that later when I catch my breath.  For now here's some flowers I saw blooming today.
