It's a finish!
Jack's Chain
82 x 86
Most of the little 3 inch (finished) Nine Patches were from swaps. I used ones with dark corners.
I used muslin for the connecting triangles and a variety of neutrals for the hexagons.
It is big stitch hand quilted with perle ecru #12.
I think I bought this yardage deeply discounted back in 2016 when Hancock's went out of business. There was just enough for a pieced backing so I guess it was meant to be.
This is my second Jack's Chain quilt and it looks very different from the first. I finished my first one back in 2016. It is a little smaller and also was hand quilted. It has been in the hope chest since it was finished - a future wedding gift quilt for grandson who is now only 12. I like to plan ahead!!!

I've never seen a Jack's Chain done all-scrappy -- it's terrific. The backing is ideal. More of the Blockswapper 9-patches? And how many do you have left?
That's quite a pattern, and I love it! I think I told you years ago when you were piecing it. I may, (notice I said 'may') get the courage to try it some day. Someone else will probably have to finish it if I do start on it. Yours turned out really great! ---"Love"
Love your Jack's Chain. Congratulations on finishing it. I have one block made. I have a whole lot of Kaffe fabric scraps to use.
What a great quilt. Off to look at your album of finishes for 2021! Happy Christmas!🎄
Did you know you made 10 more quilts than last year PLUS 2 table runners? Wow!
Such an intriguing quilt and what a lot of work. Well done.
Merry Christmas!
Pat
Definitely a piece to be proud of Cathy. Congratulations on a terrific finish!
This is wondrously complex, and I love the result. The backing fabric is perfect harmonizing with the front. Well done!
I love the Jack's Chain pattern but know I will never make it. I'll enjoy seeing yours instead. It looks great as a scrap quilt and I think would become a little boring if it had just a few fabrics repeated over and over.
Merry Christmas!
A real beaut for sure! Definitely a potential one for "Daily Blocks" scrap sewing. Have a very Merry Christmas and looking forward to more of your scrappy inspiration in the New Year!
It is beautiful. I always like to see muslin in a scrappy quilt. You really have a good eye and vision for scrap quilts.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Congratulations on a spectacular quilt finish, Cathy!! Sounds like the perfect day for a celebration. This was also a fabulous last finish of the year! You really know how to finish with flair. :o))
Wow! I love it! :)
Merry Christmas!
Wow!!! It's utterly luscious!
You give me hope that I'll someday finish mine! (I'm going to cheat, though, and make mine considerably smaller!)
What a beautiful finish! I have been eyeing this pattern for a while.. I might have to 'start' the nine patches next year.
That is just amazing! I love this dynamic design and your colour work is great... my eyes just keep dancing around and looking at different areas of the quilt!
And it's HAND quilted... you are a superstar!
I love the Jack's Chain design and yours is wonderful, Cathy! When you hand quilt big stitch style, how big are your stitches? I'm hand quilting right now, with perle cotton, and I'm guessing an experienced hand quilter would not like my stitches, lol! But it's working for me, and I like the look of how your Jack's Chain is quilted, too!
Gorgeous quilt, and love the scrappiness! Happy Stitching and Happy New Year!
great job Cathy - ending the year with a bang! I have been making a ton of little nine patches for this project. Not quite sure I am brave enough to get started. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
What a gorgeous quilt and hand quilted...Fantastic.
Congrats!!!
Happy 2022!!
Your Jack's Chain is beautiful. I started one of these years's ago but never finished . Thank you so much for sharing your beauty and for telling where you found the pattern. Perhaps I will pull out my Jack's Chain. Happy quilting.
So wonderfully scrappy.
Wow!! that is a show stealer!!! what a great note to go out on!!!
Amazing quilt and amazing hand quilting too. What a fantastic finish for this year! Happy New Year to you from me!
Your Jack's Chain quilt is as pretty as your first one! I like the more subdued colors in this project!
You made a lovely quilt! I like the scrappiness, and the calm, quiet, but not boring colors. And that it looks soft and cuddly to curl up in.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Thanks for the pattern reference. I learned to make a lot of blocks from Quilter's Cache. It was totally worth the time to quilt this gem by hand.
