A Top of Tops
36 x 36
When finished it will go to Jack's Basket. It's one of several I hope to get made. And if I find my crochet hooks I'll probably crochet a couple of sets of baby hats and booties.
I had just enough of this top fabric to make the stars. I'm pretty sure I bought it long ago for the letter T for an I Spy swap but someone else claimed the letter T. Do they still make old fashioned tops? Would a child born today be able to identify a top? I hardly have any solids but I do have a lot of that Kona Spring I bought to use with my 30s fabrics so that went into the mix. It matches the green in the tops and you probably can't see it but that top fabric has kind of a light green, white and yellow plaid background. I thought all green backgrounds would be pretty boring so went looking for something else to use for alternate backgrounds. I didn't really have enough of any solid that looked good. When I was digging around in my batik fabrics I found that blue dotty fabric. It's a really light weight and not stiff but soft batik if it actually is a batik. And it matches the blue in the tops so I guess it was meant to be.
Top of the morning to you!
View from the kitchen window this morning.
If it looks blurry it's probably because I need to wash the kitchen windows.

Beautiful color in your sunrise and cute top top.
Love the colours in your latest quilt. The blue dotty fabric is exactly right!
Gorgeous sunrise and great new top.
Stunning sunrise and the blue and green background fabrics look good together.
Fun stars, they'll make someone happy.
Nice morning view, looks cold but beautiful.
Big, fun stars! The recipient will wonder what the heck those weird shapes are...maybe flying saucers :)
Beautiful picture. Your quilt is so cute. When I first looked at the tops, I thought they were spaceships, hahaha
Our grandson (age 2) has a vintage style top here that he loves to play with and he has a newer model at his other grandparents' house. So yes, kids today do play with spinning tops if the grown ups in their lives make one available to them.
Cute! And yes, tops are still around. My son has at least one, and he's currently 5.
