I've added a border of Flying Geese to my vintage inspired quilt I'm calling Shirts and Giggles.
It is now a 52 inch square.
I made the Flying Geese from old shirts (SHIRTS) and some fabrics that I thought looked like old grandma dresses (GIGGLES).
Now I need to do some math to figure out the next border - Puss in the Corner blocks and sashing. I'm thinking I won't add the sashing between blocks but time will tell.
This is my inspiration.
It was a vintage quilt for sale once upon a time on Ebay.

Looks like you're having fun. I love your description of the "old grandma fabric". Sometimes I wonder if my kids think that when they see what fabric I am putting into quilts. But, I knew exactly what you were describing and you picked out the perfect fabric for the job. I love all the plaids.

Always so fun to study your photos and see if there are any of the same fabrics in my scraps or stash! And invariably there are, a lot of them, lol! This is looking great, would make a fabulous quilt even without adding the Puss in the Corner blocks, though probably a bit small for what you were envisioning.

My grandma made her everyday/work dresses out of that kind of fabric. Nice utility quilt.
