This month the theme in my sewing space is KIDS.
So I've finished four Bear Paw comfort quilts for KIDS.
For part of 2021 and most of 2022 I made single 6 inch Bear Paw blocks when I came across 2.5 inch scraps enough for 4 HSTs. The 4.5 inch square for came out of a bin of squares I cut over time from scraps. The scraps came from leftovers, were given to me or came out of the scrap bags in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color of the month. I cut the HSTs with an Easy Angle ruler that is why I only needed a 2.5 inch width scrap to make the HSTs. I kept making blocks until I had a big bin of them then late last year I made them into tops. And now they are finished and ready to move on to some KIDS. All were quilted with spirals/swirls on my DSM.
I think it's always fun to just make a pile of blocks over time and then see how many quilts I can make out of them.

Wow. They are all beauties. I especially like the red/yellow and green/aqua.
It always amazes me what different patterns one block can make! These are all really pretty, love the backs too.
Fun quilts - I love all the different colors.
What wonderful Bears Paws finishes, Cathy!! I especially love the "Singin' the Blues" one..I can just picture three bears harmonizing and bopping around-- hahaha ;)))
Nice works hugs, Julierose
I love bear paw blocks and all of the quilts are so pretty. I like the on point ones for variety.
This is likely going to be the year of the bear paw quilts for me. Thank you for all of this quilty inspiration!
What a delightful washing line of quilts! You really make magic from scraps, Cathy. All so different and bright and cheerful. They will be super gifts fro KIDS. 🤗
Wow!! Best bear paws ever!
(Adding yet another quilt block to my ever-growing list...)
These bear paws quilts are really delightful! And I love the snow pics! I'm sure they will be much loved and well used.
I love your Bear Paws quilts in all the versions you did this time. I can't even pick a fav! Well, maybe the blue one because, you know, ... blue! But the last one is soooooo cute! So you did a GREAT job on all of them! ;^)
Oh my goodness these are spectacular! I love each one!
4 finishes is a fabulous way to start the new year!
These are beauties! I love the color combinations you used in the quilts! They are very bright and cheerful!
That's quite a pack of bears! And the January RSC color is light/dark blue so your blue bear paws have fulfilled that one.
Love your bear paw quilts, all beautiful!
All four of your bear paw quilts are fantastic! I love the way the blocks twist and turn in the blue quilt, and the bear paws look great set on point too!
Wonderful display of finished quilts! They will be loved by kiddies.
Wonderful rainbow of bear paws! I always enjoy your clothesline pictures!
So many great Bear's Paw layouts! How much fun to see them all together in one place.
Wow! They're all beautiful -love them! And, you must have used a ton of scraps!
I may have to add bear paws to my list for the year ;)
Those are beautiful, Cathy! I love how you set the warm colors together, and the cool colors, and then all the rest. Great finishes!
Gorgeous bear paw quilts!
So cute and colorful!!! I love the different layouts too!!!
FANTASTIC! You rock!
I made a Bear Paw quilt many years ago, at a silent auction at our Guild it was sold, I told myself I would make another but that's never happened, you have made four beauties here and this could be the start, for me, of another quilt this year. There will be four happy kids!!
Oh, Cathy, these are all beautiful! Each one is gorgeous in its own right. They look terrific all hanging together.
These are all great quilts which I'm sure any kid would love to have! I really like the on point setting the best. I don't remember having seen one before. I am thinking that this would be a good leader/ender block. Hmm ...
Love the idea of following along with the RSC over several years focused on a single block, then shuffling the blocks into multiple quilts. Your recipients are going to have so much fun making discoveries as they look over the scraps.
That's a lot of beautiful bear paws! Happy quilting!
They're all gorgeous, so beautiful that you are responsible for me starting a new project... yep, 3 bear paws done yesterday!
Fantastic as usual, Cathy! You are amazing in your design and productivity! All so pretty!
These are FANTASTIC!!!!
I love that you just made the blocks until you had enough - kind of like potato chips!! you can't make just one
and the quilts are amazing!!! Love them!
What a productive way to use up scraps. The quilts are lovely and will no doubt provide a lot of warm bear-hugs for the recipients!
You have really shown just how versatile bear paw block's are, Cathy! Great line of kids quilts! :)
