The Only Good Time To Be Wrapped In Bear Paws

This month the theme in my sewing space is KIDS.

So I've finished four Bear Paw comfort quilts for KIDS.

For part of 2021 and most of 2022 I made single 6 inch Bear Paw blocks when I came across 2.5 inch scraps enough for 4 HSTs. The 4.5 inch square for  came out of a bin of squares I cut over time from scraps.  The scraps came from leftovers, were given to me or came out of the scrap bags in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color of the month.   I cut the HSTs with an Easy Angle ruler that is why I only needed a 2.5 inch width scrap to make the HSTs.    I kept making blocks until I had a big bin of them then late last year I made them into tops. And now they are finished and ready to move on to some KIDS. All were quilted with spirals/swirls on my DSM.

I think it's always fun to just make a pile of blocks over time and then see how many quilts I can make out of them.

It always amazes me what different patterns one block can make! These are all really pretty, love the backs too.

That's quite a pack of bears! And the January RSC color is light/dark blue so your blue bear paws have fulfilled that one.

I made a Bear Paw quilt many years ago, at a silent auction at our Guild it was sold, I told myself I would make another but that's never happened, you have made four beauties here and this could be the start, for me, of another quilt this year. There will be four happy kids!!

These are all great quilts which I'm sure any kid would love to have! I really like the on point setting the best. I don't remember having seen one before. I am thinking that this would be a good leader/ender block. Hmm ...

Love the idea of following along with the RSC over several years focused on a single block, then shuffling the blocks into multiple quilts. Your recipients are going to have so much fun making discoveries as they look over the scraps.

and the quilts are amazing!!! Love them!
