Monkey Wrench Top

Monkey Wrench Top
45 x 60

For the last year or so I've been using a couple of boxes of HST parts and triangles as leader/enders.  I came across some old sets of 3.5 inch unfinished HSTs - florals with yellow.   I think they were old pieces left over from making Florabunda (started 2011 and finished 2017).

So I decided to turn those sets of four identical HSTs into Monkey Wrench blocks that finish at 7.5 inches. I tried to add some fun to those florals keeping in mind the blocks would probably go into making a quilt for a child.

Then I made more blocks that were colorful but not all flowery but nice and bright and fun.

And then I made a top for the TBQL (to be quilted later) pile.

I think I should use yellow as a background more often.

And sew on...

Yellow works beautifully as the background colour. Great flimsy finish. Do you still have more Monkey Wrench blocks to use up?

I love yellow as a background especially when they are all varied as you have done. The quilt looks wonderful, sunny, and positive- not weak or wimpy. Congratulations on another great top.

I agree about the yellow. I used not to like it that much, but more and more find it's just what I want most. Yours makes the perfect background for the mix of colours in your blocks.

I like your yellow background, too! That would be a good one to remember!
