Some Assembly Required

I've spent most of this week working outside but in between I worked on completing a set of these blocks I started back in November of last year. I made a few back then when I was trying to remember what I wanted to make to use up some '30s reproduction scraps with small animal and children at play prints.

The blocks finish at 5 inches and I combined the scraps with solids. I figured 64 blocks in an 8 x 8 layout would make a nice baby quilt that should finish at 40 x 40 inches.

I was inspired by a photo of a vintage quilt or what I think is a vintage quilt. I didn't write down where I saw the photo. I often do a search for vintage/antique quilts and save photos of ones that inspire me. I don't remember the source info on this one.

I still have a lot of work to do outside so probably won't get these assembled very soon. A bit of thinking is required in order to get the block orientation correct and I think all the pollen swirling about while I work outside is clouding my brain. Well, actually it doesn't take much to cloud this old brain but...well, for now this block set is going into my very full SAR (Some Assembly Required) box.  And I think I have enough left of these prints to make a couple more baby quilts. We'll see...

And sew on...

30s prints are so cute. Those blocks will sew up into a delightful Baby Quilt. AND you think you have enough fabrics for 2 more quilts! Wow!

You might try to save ideas you find online to Pinterest. I have thousands saved. In fact, if I didn't spend so much time saving ideas I could probably get more sewing done.
