The Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color of the month is light and bright blue. I used two inch scraps in all the shades of blue to make 62 little houses that finish at 3 inches.
I've been making these since mid year 2018. My goal was to make 540 of them.
After I made those 62 blue houses I only needed 41 more toward that goal...
...so I made 43 more houses from other colors of 2 inch scraps and made my goal.
Now I can start assembly! But my sewing machine flywheel froze up this week after I heard a big kerplunk. Last year when that happened my feed assembly needed to be replaced. Of course my sewing machine repair shop has been closed and I'm not sure when they will reopen. I do have an old Janome and even older Kenmore. The Janome was sewing along just fine and then it turned into a tension headache (one of the reasons it was replaced with the Brother) so I may get out the Kenmore today. Or not. I may just do some hand quilting and binding and putz around in the gardens. Or not.
I made more Wishing Rings that finish at 3.5 inches.
I am now halfway toward my goal of 624 blocks.

What a lot of blocks you are accumulating, of both varieties. You’ve inspired me to make some more Ticky Tacky houses. I found some I made - last year? - in a tin the other day. Nice surprise.
Have you called your repair shop? Our local store is 'closed' but if you have a machine to be repaired, you can call and arrange a drop off time.

Oh no, this isn't a good time for your main machine to go down! Hoping you find a solution. Meanwhile the houses are adorable, and they are going to make such a fun quilt!
I love your wishing rings. Call the shop. They may have an answering machine for repair emergencies. Hopefully you'll be able to sew on an "old friend".
If you get tired of sewing by hand, you could also get out your cutter and make a quilt "kit". I have done this while camping vs. taking my machine. I still have a "kit" in the drawer waiting for me to have time to sew it, though.

I'm understanding more and more the title of your blog! Just prior to reading your post today, I read Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville post of April 10, and had a good laugh. Now my mind is going crazy and laughing out loud. I'm thinking that because of the times we are living in today, you could name all your cute little houses "The Outdoor Toilets". (Please don't be offended. You're supposed to 'giggle' now!) Every little house is so cute. I don't know how you have managed to make so many, and the thought then of sewing them all together would wear me out! ---"Love"
I love your little houses and wishing rings. I hate that your machine is down. I’d encourage you to do as others have suggested and at least call to see if you can get it repaired. We can’t have you not sewing; too many quilters are depending on you for their sanity. But no pressure or anything, LOL! xo

I think sewing machine repair is essential.... or should be! Hope you are able to get it fixed soon. The fall back plans sometimes are what we need. Maybe curl up with a good book? Love your little houses.
Is your shop "closed" or like ours open by appointment only? Sorry to hear that your machines are giving you fits. Neighbors here are planing annuals - we are not willing to go to the store to get them (too many folks not complying with the masks when in public and/or social distancing) despite there being nearly 1,100 confirmed cases and 26 deaths so far in our county. Sigh.
Thats a lot of little blocks, you are doing so well. How will you manage without a sewing machine, do hope you can get this sorted soon. Especially as your other machines are questionable at the moment.

540 tiny houses? Yikes! I don't think that I would ever be able to make enough for a large quilt. But it's going to be so adorable! I think I would do what the others have suggested and see if you could drop off your machine to be repaired. And besides, I am sewing on an old Kenmore myself. I was surprised at how well it sewed after I cleaned and oiled it. Those old machines are the best. Furthermore, you are going to have us all worried sick if you stop sewing and stop posting about it! So there!
Also, I forgot to say - did you know that Moda is allowing you to print out their (Carrie Nelson's) Village pattern for free right now? Just in case you start to go into withdrawal.
Oh, no! The dreaded KERPLUNK! I hope you find a solution to your machine woes. Gardening is good, hand quilting is good. Heck, you could even cook? Good luck :)
Definitely give the repair shop a call. Some of ours are arranging for drop offs. I was just thinking about looking for some blue scraps to do more ticky tacky houses. I'm no where near your total though. And if the weather would just get over itself and warm up, you could find plenty to do outside in the garden. Happy Easter.

Oh no! What a terrible time for sewing machine malfunction! Our shops are closed but they are still taking in machines for repair. I hope you can get sewing one way or another--that's the only way I am staying sane. Love your little houses!
