The Sum of Its Parts

No, it's not a picture of four small quilts but it is a picture of four large (24 inch) blocks...

...that look like this. When there are 16 blocks I'll have a quilt that will look similar to Denyse Schmidt's Garden Mosaic.
Where some of the blocks meet stars are formed.

At other junctures a square in square forms.
My June One Monthly Goal (OMG) was to make at least 400 more (I had 427 at goal making time) - two inch HSTs.  According to my tally sheet I met that goal on June 10 by making just a few HSTs each day.  So I celebrated by making a four (of total sixteen) blocks.
And as of today, June 26, I have 1460 two inch HSTs. I need 2048 to complete the quilt.

So, June OMG was met and exceeded.

You certainly know how to sew small scraps! Yet another idea I'll have to investigate. What an impressive goal to make all those small HSTs. Good luck. 👍

Two blocks by two blocks plus borders would make a terrific table topper for our kitchen table. And I do have plenty of scraps to work with . . .

Holy cats! You and Sally are now both way way WAAAAY ahead of me! (Of course, I stopped and made a big push on another quilt, but still...)

Zounds! And this time I'm impressed with the sewing. I also like the crispness of the solid background. Maybe I should start over...

I'm in awe of all those HST. I hate making them, but to make that many for a quilt - you're a legend. Will look just stunning when it is finished, though.

It's great that you can start to see the overall effect with just four blocks! "Just" four GIANT blocks, that is. I hope this stage is rewarding and inspiring you to continue :)
