Postage Stamp Pandemic

The Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color for the month is blue (specifically light blue because we had a darker blue month previously; however, I just use any old blue scraps in blue months).

I've been making 64 Patch blocks with postage stamps (1.5 inch squares) since 2020. The blocks alternate solids in the RSC color of the month with scraps.   So this month I made six blocks with different blue solids and found out that after that I was only 8 blocks away from my goal of 121 blocks.

So I made 4 more and then...

And then I made 4 more and...GOAL MET!
121 blocks
7744 postage stamps
The layout will be 11 x 11 for a quilt 88 x 88 inches.

I think I caught the PSP fever from Sally (The Objects of Design blog)  or maybe from Gayle (Mangofeet blog).

I think I still have a Postage Stamp fever - this time it's a vintage strain of it.

I've started a Postage Stamp Strippy quilt inspired by a vintage one I saw a long time ago at the Q is for Quilter blog. Evidently her blog doesn't exist anymore so I can't link to that post with the pictures.

I think the strips are about 9 inches wide so maybe I'll aim for 10 strips about 90 inches long. MAYBE.

And sew on...

Gosh i just love these Postage Stamp blocks!! Are you using 1.5" sqs? I only have made two with 2.5" squares, but I love how your little ones look with the alternating solids...Very nice work on these hugs, Julierose

P.S. you really are an "enabler-quilter", you know ;))) I may have to start cutting 1.5 inchies from my scraps today!! Now...really, is that fair??hahaha

Wonderful blocks. When they are all together, they become a wholly different quilt than bits. I love the on-point squares with black border. They are exciting to look at.

Congratulations for meeting your goal of postage stamp blocks! I can't wait to see the flimsy, happy stitching!

I'm with you. Any shade of blue will do. Of course, since I missed sewing anything in the dark blue month (can't even remember why), I have an excuse to go full blue. I admire your fortitude in making all those postage stamp blocks. I'm making 18 nine patches in the color of the month for a block with other 3.5" units, and I'm ready to be done with all those little pieces.

That’s a lot of little squares! The quilt will be heavy with all those Seam allowances! Sew on! Gail at the Cozy Quilter

I truly don't remember who started the PSP - you, me, or Sally T. It may have been a case of spontaneous combustion! It was definitely Sally who named it.
And I suspect all of us were channeling Klein meisje quilts...

I sew love the PSP, I am almost inspired to find 1.5 but not quite. Just did a big ole border with 2" square so does that count!? Keep on stitching!

I adore the look of the postage stamp quilts - I made a couple of blocks but never went further. While I love working with 1.5" strips the 1.5" squares were not as much fun for me. Looking forward to this new design.
