Quilts of September #18

Life is like ice cream. Enjoy it before it melts.

It's a finish!
60 x 80

I finished the top back in September 2020.  I had a lot of fun figuring out what fabrics to use for the ice cream and the cones.  I ended up with some rainbow sherbet, chocolate, chocolate chip and lots of other fun flavors.

On my DSM I quilted swirls in the ice cream and some diagonal lines in the cones. I changed colors of thread to match the ice cream and borders on the Happy Blocks. I used brown in the cones. The background fabric is kind of a peach color but I used a light pink that blended in. I think this may be the first time I used different colors of thread in a quilt.

The background is loops and swirls.

I made half a Snowball block for the ice cream and I used a Tri-Rec ruler to cut and make the cones.

I quilted squiggles (syrup drizzle) in the frame of the Happy Blocks and a swirl in the centers with the ice cream cones.

The back is some fabric with ice cream cones and sundaes that I've had in my stash for a very long time. I think I bought it back when Hancocks went out of business. Finally I found the perfect use for it! There was just enough with a little left over for the scrap pile.

That's finish #18 for September!

My OMG (One Monthly Goal) is to see how many quilts I can finish in September.

And on to the next!
(How many will I finish in September???? Maybe a few more?)

I vowed that there would be no piecing, cutting or squirrels allowed in the sewing room this month . I'm starting to experience withdrawal symptoms.  Thank goodness the end of the month is near!  😅 6 days and counting!

Thanks to all who have been cheering me on!

I remember the the ice cream cone blocks and, of course, you always have happy blocks available. This is really cute and will make someone very happy. I'm amazed you had the time to change threads and use multiple motifs, but it was worth it. From your countdown, I get the feeling you are really antsy to get back to piecing and probably have a million ideas of where to start.

A brilliant quilt! Amazing ice cream cones, how clever. Your changes of colours for the stitches are great, a lot of work along with the different patterns in the quilting. Marvellous!

I bet kids are going to be fighting for this quilt. Your sewing machine will definitely need a tune up after this month. Although I'm sure you are being very generous with the oil and lint cleaning.

I don't really remember you working on this one. I love it. The pink background was a perfect choice. Loved your quilting too. Great job! Anyone would love to cuddle under that one!

I think this is my favorite of your September quilts thus far. Maybe it's the pink fabric, maybe it's the ice cream!
