Tulips in the Snow

Tulips in the Snow
43 x 43
I think that may be a good size for a wheelchair quilt.

and
colors were inspired by a cardinal in the snow I saw a lot last winter from my kitchen window.

5 inch (finished) blocks were made with very skinny strings in white and cream - some with touches of red - came out of the low volume string box.

The tulips were made from very skinny red strings and I used needle turn applique to stitch them to the background.

I'll probably end up hand quilting this at some point but for now it will go into the quilting pile. And now that I have quilted along I think I have an idea for an entirely different string tulip quilt someday.

So lovely! It will bring big smiles to whoever is fortunate enough to receive it. Haven't yet begun to work on mine, though as they say "she has high hopes!"

Very pretty. Good idea to make the string blocks with these neutral fabrics. I’ve started this Tulips Quiltalong and made all the String blocks in a large amount of colours, now I’ve ground to halt. Hope that seeing your finished quilt will revitalise me to get mine finished.

What a perfect name for this quilt. Love your layout. I have a problem collecting enough low volume strings or prints but yours are just gorgeous. I will be keeping this one in mind for the future.

Oh, so beautiful. Love the red tulips on all the cream and white fabrics. How kind to donate it. I'm sure the recipient will love it. And even better that it has sparked more ideas. Hooray for tulips!

I read the post title and thought, "Oh no, snow on the tulips?". Glad to see it wasn't the real thing. Of course, our forecast is for a chance of snow in the higher elevations tonight. I'm hoping that means it will pass us by. Your tulips will make a lovely lap quilt for someone.

I love that low volume background. It really sets off the center so nicely!

That is gorgeous! I just made four 12" neutral string blocks and set them aside until I got inspired. You have offered me a great idea. Thanks!

I have not yet begun my Tulips quilt, what with right wrist in a cast. Thank you for the inspiration!
