Yellow 3.5 Inch Scrap Edition

 Six Inch Bow Ties
This is a Rainbow Scrap Challenge carry over project from last year.  I've been making these from 3.5 inch scraps.  Most of these yellow tone on tone scraps are left over from a Jacob's Ladder quilt finished last year.

I now have 197 bow ties. My target is 224 for a 14 x 16 layout.  I'm almost there!

With 3.5 inch scraps I'm also making 3 inch Snowballs.  Last year I made 230 of them with light corners so thought I'd make them with dark corners this year. I was thinking I may alternate dark and light corners in a quilt similar to what I did when making my Lozenge quilt although I haven't ruled out combining them with another 3 inch block like nine patch or rails.

And that strip at the bottom is what gets made when I get to the end of a 3.5 inch scrap that is smaller than a 3.5 inch square.  At the end of the year I'll see what I have and will probably make a Chinese Coin quilt or use them as a border.

Fun blocks! And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who starts quilts requiring insane numbers of blocks! (Also glad to know I'm not the only one who counts them down!)

So fun! I like making your photos really large on the computer screen and looking at all your amazing scraps!
Just look at the bowties with the white background with skulls on it!!

As usual, I love your blocks and your ideas. I may borrow that strip idea sometime, too. And your Scrap variety never ceases to amaze me!

I love the yellow with candy corn - that's a fun one! Looks like I have a ways to go to catch up on bowties!

I always love looking at your variety of scraps. Bow ties are piling up beautifully as are the snowballs with dark corners. The "waste not, want not" yellow strips will make great Chinese Coin strips or borders....... no doubt they will appear in one of your Orphan Blocks Donation Quilts somewhere down the track.

Love it...3.5” edition! My imagination runs overtime as to what one can do with just one size. Love the idea of the faux lozenge 💕 and those leftovers could also be the start of the stubby crayon quilt... I see a new scavenger piece quilt in my future. Thanks so much for several new ideas.
