Autumn Adventures II
67 x 77
This is one of the five quilt tops I made last year when I cleared out a bin of autumn themed blocks and a box of autumn themed fabric. I blogged about the five tops last November.
This quilt is made of autumn themed Happy Blocks swapped long ago. The blocks finish at 6.5 inches. I set them on point and alternated blocks with leafy yardage I originally purchased for a quilt backing.
I quilted it on my DSM with three leaf clusters in the squares and then I did a leafy meander in columns to fill in between the squares. I used a brown variegated thread.
Since I used backing yardage on the front I felt compelled to use a variety of scraps on the back.
I included four 12 inch Crumb Leaf blocks that I decided I didn't really like. So I then crossed that UFO off the list. (I may try crumb leaves again sometime but limit the colors used in the blocks).
Another view of the leaf quilting.
On to the next!

Great quilt. Well done for completing another UFO.
Both front and back look fabulous.
Good use for the autumn print in the alternate blocks. I esp. like the side setting different triangles--they help make the quilt look interesting.:) And the back is great too! Always fun to see how your quilts turn out!
I love that back - such good use of scraps!
The leaf crumb blocks look nifty -- the design concept, I mean. I agree that they might look better in a controlled colorway. The entire pieced back is great. And I like the quilting design. A winner all around.
I love this quilt! Even the back is fun!
Great finish. Those happy blocks look entirely different in an on-point setting.
Beautiful front and back
Great finish Cathy. And it crosses two projects off the list - Yahoo! Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
Another beautiful quilt finish...(I do love that Snoopy print on the back, too). hugs, Julierose
I like the back more than the front; especially the crumb leaf blocks! :)
This one is amazing - I love the scrappy back!!!
❤️ ❤️ 💕 at first sight!!! Then again when I came to the backing......which Is amazing and delightful. Such a nice mix of intricate piecing and large areas. Then I want back to see the front again. I’m using my iPad so much smaller than my desktop iMac. Then, I noticed that you used purple in the setting squares. (I’m ’ not a particular fan of purple but yes, I do use it in quilts.). So the interesting thing is that way back years ago, I discovered that a sprinkle of purple, either a red purple or a blue purple depending on the quilt is Just the thing that makes an autumn quilt sing!!! The moment I noticed it, I thought “That’s why this quilt is so gorgeous”! Congratulations, always fun to read your posts.
You are on a roll, Cathy. Congrats.
Fabulous finish!! Thanks for the reminder that I have a bag of autumnal prints that I won (and need to put to use.)
That quilt is awesome! It looks like a happy romp through the leaves!
Congrats on the finish! I would say now you have room for more scrappy stuff, but if your sewing room is like mine, just one quilt doesn't even make a dent.
