Pumpkin Peels: A Flimsy

 Pumpkin Peels
78 x 78
It's a flimsy ready for some hand quilting after I find a backing.

It was a blustery, beautiful day yesterday.
It's difficult to take pics of a flimsy when it's windy.
I'm surprised I managed to line up all the peels more or less evenly.  The peels are appliqued to the background fabric and I don't do much applique.

I used all sorts of little scraps - tiny bits and pieces 3 inch long and in various widths in autumn colors - red, yellow, orange, purple, brown.   The peels were paper pieced on phone book pages.

The pattern is from the book Small Pieces, Spectacular Quilts by Biz Storms and Mary Elizabeth Kinch.

There's lots of fun little things to look at in those tiny scraps if you get close.  That's my favorite kind of quilt.

And here it is with my new washing machine.

I love being able to do laundry on the deck and watch the world go by.  (I'm not looking forward to winter laundry though. I guess I'll have to do that in the dark, dingy basement with the homemade wine and canned goods.)

And speaking of pumpkin peels and homemade...I roasted a bunch of pumpkins from the garden yesterday and left enough out of the freezer to make a pie today.  Life is good.

I have that book and bought it especially because of the very quilt you've shared here. I LOVE IT! And I love the windy outdoor photos on the clothesline and on your deck. Those flowers are wonderful (including a butterfly!).

I also love quilts that are fun to look at up close because of all the interesting fabric! This one is beautiful! And what could be better than homemade punpkin pie - enjoy!

A very unusual quilt, new design to me. Washing on the deck sounds different too! I love pumpkin soup not so keen on pie, perhaps that's my British taste?

Oh no! Only you could make washing by hand sound fun. Love the pumpkin peels and seeing that the sections are appliqued, it seems doable. That said, I prefer pumpkin seeds to the peel.

This is gorgeous--I love the rich colored background//you always manage to choose such creative backgrounds..was the pickle pattern hard to do? I love appliqueing so maybe I could do one...hugs, Julierose

I'm inspired by your fabulous pink background! I would never have guessed that it would work so well with all the different scraps. I'm working on a new scrappy top now, and will give some serious (or not so serious) thought to a wild 'n crazy background a la Cathy!

Beautiful photos. Nothing like a lovely quilt on a windy day.
You're having fun! Pumpkin pie, so good.

Scrappy quilts are the BEST! Love this quilt. The Lantana is gorgeous! I am curious as how well your new clothes washer works over time so I hope for updates...

I love this, even not being a fan of pink! That big floral pink background is really perfect for those arcs.
I have that book, too, (don't start another quilt) and have been eyeing this pattern. Maybe I (don't start another quilt) should (don't start another quilt) make one (don't start another quilt), too... (Don't start another quilt Don't start another quilt Don't start another quilt)
