Hand Quilting

Hand stitching my Triangle Stars.  Right now I'm stitching 1/4 inch inside each triangle with regular hand quilting thread.  I'm moving right along on the 12 stars but one of these days I'm going to have to figure out what to do in the background spaces.   I'm thinking some eight pointed stars in those four patch sections but not sure about the HST area where the star points meet.  Any ideas?

Stars were last year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge project and were hand cut from miscellaneous sized scrappy bits and pieces.

I'll have time for lots of slow stitching projects since the hand wheel on my sewing machine (Big Brother)  froze up yesterday.   I'll take it in for repair tomorrow on my way home from work.  If I really need a sewing fix in the meantime I still have old reliable Kenny Kenmore and Plain Jane Janome who always has tension problems.
But I'm okay with hand quilting and some simple embroidery  for awhile.

Those stars are one of my favorite quilts of yours. All the different pinks are so fun together. Enjoy your stitching today!

For the HST areas - man in the moon? Crescent moon with a cat? Variety of iconic moon images? Corny, but fun!

I love having alternate projects for times like "machine issues" -- happy stitching!

I hope your machine has an easy fix!
I love this quilt! And I'm really happy you're hand quilting it, because I'm a total sucker for hand quilting.
The HST square between the star points is the same size as each corner square - can you echo whatever you quilt in those corners?
Good luck with the quilting and with the machine!

For the HST how about either just a cross-hatch or echo quilted triangles. Your quilt is very pretty. So sorry about your machine. I pray mine stays healthy as my local repair store has closed.

I love the bright triangles. Working in each of them is a lot of stitching.
You will have plenty of time to mindfully design the stitching for the backgrounds. Keep up the good work.

I agree, that's a gorgeous block. Good choice to hand quilt too.
Thanks for sharing, it encourages me.

Lovely block, Cathy. If you want the quilting in the blue blocks to line up with your triangle stars, why don't you consider something like Pine Burr that has a star shape going from corner to corner? Whatever you choose will be wonderful.
