Have you Heard of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge?
I like the Rainbow Scrap Challenge because it helps me keep my scraps under control and actually results in some fabulous quilts. I always look forward to a new color of the month and digging through boxes and bins to see what scraps I have in the color for each of my projects.
Here in this post I've shown you what RSC projects I FINISHED in 2016.
They were mostly all projects spanning several years. My goal is to use scraps and I don't necessarily have scraps in the color of the month or only a few scraps or don't have scraps in the size I need for WIPs. That's why I usually have numerous RSC projects in the works every year. I usually work my projects each week by size of scraps - 1.5, 2.5, 4.5, chunks, crumbs are the sizes of scraps I have most often.
I have some tops in the quilting queue from past RSC years and I have projects I'm carrying over to 2017 from previous years. I have a couple new projects to try out. I'm in no hurry to get any one quilt finished; it doesn't bother me to have so many on-going projects. I'm easily bored but more importantly I enjoy the time, the process, the energy I spend on each of my quilts.
Besides using up scraps I have fun visiting other blogs for inspiration. And from those visits I get to know the people behind the quilts.

Awesome post -- your scrappy quilts are SO vibrant! Love your work.
So impressive! I particularly love the...... all of them!! You go! xo
WOW!!! Five BIG RSC finishes during 2016. Nice work!! (No matter that they spanned multiple years of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.)
Really nice scrap projects. I have plenty of scraps.... now to create such pretty quilts.
I love seeing all your Rainbow projects. Scrappy quilts are the best!
OH my goodness you finished so many projects! That is just so impressive and it is hard to pick which one that I like the best. Maybe the kaleidoscope!
Cathy, Your quilts are an inspiration to me. Like you I have many projects going at the same time. I've had a lot of fabric gifted to me and sometimes there are cut pieces that inspire to make something of them. Our guild takes all sizes of quilts and tops.
These are all amazing rainbow quilts!! Thanks for sharing them with us.
I love your finishes! Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow, some amazing projects, so beautiful!! take care from Iowa
you have a fantastic line-up of quilts! great job! (I see lots of inspiration in there, too!)
Beautiful collection of quilts, the diversity in rainbow themed patterns is fantastic, especially love Pentland Crackers, just wondering where the pattern came from? I would love to make that my challenge for the year...if I have enough strip scraps left, otherwise its twinkler stars for me!
Sounds like you have a great plan for working though all your scraps. That must be why you get so much done. So many beautiful quilts from "just" scraps.
Cathy, I love everything you do! Such great color and wonderful scrap quilts.
Wow! So many projects, and every one of them absolutely gorgeous! (You have a time machine, don't you? That's the only explanation...)
Thank you for the beautiful parade! I can't decide which one I love the most. They are all gorgeous! Can't wait to see what you make this year. Happy sewing!
It's always fun to see such beautiful quilts made from scraps. That's something else I need to try in 2017 maybe. ---"Love"
Fantastic finishes! Thanks for reminding me I've always wanted to use the Cracker pattern.
What a wonderful parade of rainbows! Good to know we can carry our efforts from one year to another and get such terrific results. :-)
How fun to see your Lozenge quilt, since I'm doing that for my RSC17. Your projects are lovely.
they are GORGEOUS. I would be proud to have made any one of them!
LOVE seeing all that scrappy goodness turned into beautiful quilts. Happy New Year! May there be much more scrappiness in 2017 :)
Just plain awesome, Cathy. My favourites are the lozenges and the ROYGBIV stars, but there's not one I don't love.
ROYGBIV is outstanding!
All your beautiful RSC quilts are so bright and happy. They are amazing and I love Roy G Biv ;-)
So beautiful and inspirational. Thanks for sharing.
You've finished some gorgeous RSC quilts! I couldn't pick a favorite, all of yours turned out beautifully. Looking forward to seeing your projects develop this year.
