Doing That Crazy Hand Jive

Still hand quilting...

...x's in the 9 patches and "flowers" in the snowballs.

Not sure how I will tack down those prairie points so they don't flap around. Any suggestions?

I'm stitching along today with others in blog land at Kathy's Quilts Slow Sunday Stitching.  I wonder what everyone else is up to.

I've never done prairie points, so I have no advice whatsoever. I have a wall quilt that I got in a swap that has them - they're not tacked down in any way, but it is a wall quilt. I'll be interested to see what others say.

Every time I see you hand quilting a quilt I think to myself "I can do that"...but then I get scared...what if I have enormous puckers on the back? No Bueno! Do you use Perle floss or DMC floss? You thread baste first right?

I am planning a prairie point project...someday soon, I hope. I am interested in what thread you hand quilt with, also. I am currently using a 30 wt variegated Sulky- doubled to get even more color on a wildly colored wall hanging. Not totally happy with it.
Love your busy patterns.

Such a beautifully coloured quilt, could you just put a little stitch or two in the point?

I like the button idea for the points . I would not like them to flap around either! Have fun sewing

No better suggestion for how to control your points, but I still like them a lot.

You could applique the prairie points all the way around.
I have stitched a bead on the points before, but that was for a wallhanging.
A button might be fun too!
