It's A Top!

It's a top!

58.5 x 84

For a couple of years I made a few blocks from what tone on tone (tot) scraps I had in the color of the month.

A few days ago I cut and added the washing pieces while making the top. I made my blocks and top using my own method and not what is in the instructions.

My method yielded the same result.

And so now maybe I should call it "Feeling Chipper".

***
I spent a few days cutting everything in the new native wildflower area six inches from the ground. That is the maintenance required for the first year. My son helped with the weed whacker and then I picked up and removed most of the big stuff.

I received some beautiful backing fabric from Julie and a box of a variety of fabrics including some cute panels from Donna.

Goofball, my favorite free range cat, passed away. He made me laugh. He would follow me around and sometimes get in my way while weeding or planting until I scratched his head and belly or he would run ahead of me and show off how far up a tree he could climb. I think I heard him meow " look at me". He would come up to the deck door where he could see me sitting on the couch and beg me to come out and play. I miss him and his antics.

I saved $1.09 per gallon of gas with my HyVee grocery store card. Not bad since I usually only go grocery shopping every 2-3 weeks.

Sounds as though Goofball was a good companion (on his terms!). How many other cats do you have?.....The chips quilt is great -- the b/w makes the colors glow.

What a gorgeous quilt! Such a great assortment of black and white backgrounds and beautiful colors too! I have this pattern too and now I am inspired to use it. So sorry to hear about Goofball. I lost my younger brother a few weeks ago, the best brother ever and such a good friend. I still can't believe it.

Sorry to hear about Goofball. My son and DIL just lost their 18-year old cat Emmett, and they are heartbroken. I still have my Chips blocks from 2020 to finish up too. Hopefully I’ll get to them this fall, but they are lower than a few others in my finishing hierarchy. Yours turned out beautifully!

That quilt is outstanding! You did a beautiful job. I know you are glad you got the flower bed tended to. Now you don't have it hanging over your head to do. I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. Pets are so much fun but they just don't live long enough. A dollar a gallon saving? Wow. I need to see if we have anything like that here. I remember in the late 60's, they had gas wars and we could get a case of cokes free with a fill up!

I love this one!! All those different backgrounds sure give the quilt depth. So sorry about Goofball. We never get enough time with those furry friends.

Love, love, love! We were making ours together in 2020 but I followed the pattern because I'm not as rogue a quilter as you. LOL Mine was gifted for a nephew's wedding & they love it, but I really miss that quilt because it's fab. And so is yours!

So much fun!! I love this mix of B&W with brights. I love it so much that I too am working on bright center squares with B&W frames. I'm sure yours will be done before mine🤣.
