Chocolate Swirls
It's a finish!
74 x 84
I think this block is known by many names - Rising Sun, Cog Wheel, Wagon Wheel. Each of my blocks contains a little chocolate so I'm calling my quilt Chocolate Swirls. ( And when I use it I will be covered in chocolate. Oh, yeah!) I started making this quilt back in October 2018.
I enjoyed making these blocks. They were machine pieced and then appliqued to the background. I finished the top back in July 2019.
I started hand quilting on February 2, 2020. I did big stitch hand quilting with brown, white and red perle #12. I love hand quilting. I like to feel the fabrics soften as I stitch along. I like to feel the texture as I stitch along.
I found I had enough of the background fabric for binding.
I used a lighter brown for the backing. All the stitching makes the back look like a whole cloth quilt.
And now that I've enjoyed the process over a period of years I get to enjoy the quilt for a period of years. Ah, there's nothing like reaping the fruits (and chocolates) of my labor!

don't you just love this pattern! I know I did when I made one. Love the chocolate!
WOW looks like opening a fancy box of chocolates--just beautiful work hugs, Julierose
That could be a good substitute ... or a bad influence, depending on your self control! Lovely finish.
This is one of my favorite quilts, probably because I am such a choco-holic! You did a beautiful job! I love chocolate so much that I cross-stitched a picture similar to this one: https://www.etsy.com/hk-en/listing/624512523/finished-cross-stitch-four-food-groups. Sandy at sewhigh.blogspot.com
A delicious quilt - just beautiful! I love how you can see the full effect of the quilting on the backing. Congratulations on a great finish!
Absolutely wonderful -- congratulations on a delicious and satisfying finish.
This is such a luscious quilt, second only (maybe) to your Sunflowers quilt. Your hand quilting adds such wonderful texture. There's nothing quite as nice as hand quilting!
Decadent! I love that you used brown as your background. It's not a color I see used often. It works well with the colors in your Chocolate Swirl blocks. Congrats...its gorgeous!
This is beautiful. Are you sure you're not an AI? So many quilts and so quick!
Wow, congratulations on this gorgeous finish! Your quilt is abeauty
Your quilt is beautiful, front and back. What type/size needle do you use to big stitch quilt?
Another super quilt finish. The sashing fabric is a perfect match for the blocks. Great hand quilting. You’re right, the back does look like a wholecloth quilt.
Isn't it wonderful how we get such pleasure working on our quilts, every step of the way. Yours is a beauty, well done!
Wow!
It is beautiful. Your patience paid off
Best use of chocolate ever!
Simply stunning! WOW!!!!
I am intending to snuggle up with a good novel this evening. All I need now is your fabulous chocolate quilt to cuddle under! :)
Gloriously rich colour in this quilt -congratulations!
That's a job well done! It's yummy!
A delicious finish! Is t this, like, the second or third chocolate quilt you’ve done. You’re a girl after my own heart! xo
It's beautiful - and yummy! It's always amazing to see what you do with scraps. I love the stitching that shows so well on the solid back. You were really brave to do that. I would definitely keep this quilt.
It's been a lot of fun watching your progress. Brown is usually my least common fabric used in a quilt. I will have to revisit that after seeing your quilt. Love the pink that makes a stand throughout it too.
This is one beautiful quilt! I love chocolate, but never had really thought of it as a quilt background. Your quilting is beautiful too. ---"Love"
This quilt is beautiful! Such a lovely accomplishment!
Oh man is that a fantastic quilt!!! and I love it! you will be covered in chocolate!!
Gorgeous. I've watched with great interest while your created this beauty. You've given the perfect name to this red and brown mix. And it's just the inspiration I need as I wrestle with my own circular blocks.
I'm so glad you will be enjoying this yourself... rather than giving it away.
Gorgeous finish and beautiful quilting! Well done!
That is soooo awesome! I love this quilt!
The photos from the back are so wonderful... to show the texture of your stitching!
And finished within a month... incredible!
Thank you for the inspiration!
Your quilt is very pretty and the striped borders remind me of ribbon candy.
I love the chocolate theme in this one, Cathy, and what great blocks! Enjoy cozying up with your Chocolate Swirls!
Oh my I can taste the chocolate in my mouth looking at your quilt. Another wonderful quilt! So do you have some Hershey's kisses near you when your working on this one? I would have to.
Oh wow, your Chocolate Swirls is spectacular. Love all those pretty colours on the chocolate brown background. Love too, that fabulous stripe border fabric. My goodness, you didn't take long to do the quilting. What can I say....a most amazing finish! Well done!
Beautiful finish, love the hand quilting and the texture that makes with the dimples in the fabric. I LOVE the feel of hand quilted quilts! Looks like a buzz saw to me, but I doubt they had them at the time the pattern originally came out.
