Slow Stitching

String Star
I finally have a quilt in the hoop so I can do some big stitch quilting in the evening before bed.

Quartet of Birds
Crewel embroidery decorative pillow. I am working on the third of four birds.

Binding
Both of those slow stitching projects have been on hold while I hand stitch the binding on my Lego quilt.

And sew on...

Sunday Hand Stitching - Nursery Rhymes and Alien Invaders

The blocks for row 2 of the Ruby McKim Mother Goose Quiltie. are finished  While enjoying my morning coffee I finished up Little Miss Muffet.  Martha at Q is for Quilter  releases a new block each Sunday.  There are 20 blocks total and I am caught up with all 8 that have been released.

These will go into a baby quilt and then into a hope chest for the next generation of babies.

Either today or later this week I'll border the blocks and add them to row 1.

Meanwhile those aliens in the Attic Windows quilt have been sending me some signals that I need to get to work on some binding.  This will probably be a project for later in the day.  I need to wait for my grandson to go home today so he doesn't see it before Christmas.

Slow Sunday Stitching

Gardening season is here so I haven't worked too much on any hand sewing. A few minutes after work each night  I've been embroidering dishtowels and crocheting dish cloths for Christmas (or whatever) gifts/stocking stuffers.

I've done all the gardening I can stand today (and I don't think I can stand any longer) so I will settle down on the deck with some hand sewing and a Margarita if there aren't too many gnats out there.

First I need to finish binding a quilt for my brother for Christmas.

And then I'll work a bit on my Crazy Farm Crazy Quilt (lap size). I haven't done that in a while so I prepped two 12 inch blocks. I piece scraps to a muslin foundation by hand then embroider and embellish.

Potpourri of Hand Stitching Projects

I'm still working on hand quilting this Double Wedding Ring. I'm stitching in the ditch around the rectangles in the arches  in order to get some practice stitching. before I attempt anything in the center areas.  There are 98 arches in this quilt so I think I will be at this for awhile.

I need to finish stitching down the binding on this 72 x 90 quilt.  I hope to finish that before end of day so I can get it washed and dried today also. I live out in the country where the electricity is expensive. We get a lower rate on the weekends so we try to get our laundry done on weekends to save money. (In the summer we hang laundry outside to dry.)

I finished 6 more butterflies and need to cut more to work on tonight and little bit each night after work and dinner.  I need to count how many I have left to do.  I THINK I have 44 finished and need 54.  I've been using 30s reproduction fabrics on Kona Snow embroidered with black perle #8.

If you are doing some hand stitching this fine Sunday morning why not stitch along at
