Orphan Ursula Is Ready For Some Lovin'

Orphan Ursula
She's finished and is ready for some lovin'!
40 x 60

For this quilt I picked out some 12 inch finished orphan blocks I have received from other folks. I don't have a design wall and usually with this type of orphan block quilt I just sew blocks together randomly into columns after I pick out the blocks. When I hung this quilt out for photos I had to smile when I noticed the house block with birds on top of that block split by a neutral bar in the middle. It ended up looking like a bird house on a stake in the middle of a garden. It was meant to be!

I quilted it on my sewing machine with swirls of white.

There's some llamas on back and the binding is scrappy and came out of the leftover binding box.

And sew on...

Isn't it amazing how other people's orphans can go together this well?

It's funny you mentioned the birdhouse because I thought it was how the block was made when you received it. Yep, it was meant to be. And another one off the list. Enjoy! ;^)

Hurray for serendipity. If you had planned the birdhouse block, it probably wouldn't have come out right.

Cathy I am amazed at your lovely quilts and the amount of them that you finish. If you would send me your address via e mail I would be glad to increase your stash. Love, Sherry chelseq6238@verizon.net

It is a very happy and cosy quilt. Someone will just wrap themselves in a hug with it.

That birdhouse was meant to be for sure! It makes the whole quilt!

You really gave that quilt some life and personality. The birdhouse was a perfect touch.

Well you anticipated my question about the bird house! How great that those two blocks merged into a much more interesting rectangle! Another question generated by your post is this...I remember you naming your orphan tops with great interesting names. Now that you are quilting them...how do you remember what each one's name is? Did you stick a name tag or pin a piece of paper on each one with its own unique name?
This top has a wonderful summer feel to it. It has warmed my below zero day!!!
