Fine and Dandy
51 x 63
It's a flimsy!
You may or may not know that for awhile now I have been trying to move forward a lot of '30s reproduction fabric scraps and UFOs. The center blocks are called The Dandy Quilt and the pattern may be found at Quilter's Cache. I participated in a swap of these in 2009 and finished a Queen sized quilt made of them in 2010. I'm thinking these orphans have been around since 2009. I'm thinking they may not have passed my quality control standards for swapping so I just kept them. Or maybe they were just extras I had after I finished my quilt. I know I made all of these.
Then I changed my mind from last week when I said I was going to use my 3.5 inch '30s reproduction fabrics to make Snowballs to go with my little nine patches. Instead I used those 3.5 inch scraps to make 60 Flying Geese for a border all around.
I had to add a coping strip and I just happened to have a few bits and pieces of 2 inch scraps left over from making that Basket and Hollow Nines top.

I like the scrappy coping strip - fits in beautifully.
A new-to-me block -- great for using big chunks! I clicked to see your 2010 version. I like both settings.
How bright and cheerful in these dreary days of Christmas 2020! Come on, New Year and Spring, 2021, lets put that pretty quilt out for some encouragement! It's beautiful! ---"Love"
You know, I've always been 'meh' about 30's prints - until you started posting all these gorgeous pics. Now I'm thinking 'hmmm...' and thinking acquisitive thoughts.
Very pretty. Nice to use up some old blocks.
That is such a delightful block and quilt. Why is it that now that it’s the end of December and RSC21 is bearing down on us, I want to make everything I see?
Such a lively, happy quilt. You know I love pieced borders. Hooray for you. Merry Christmas. Wishing us all a better year ahead.
Love it. Thank you for smiles and quilts in 2020. Merry Christmas
Love it, love 30's reproduction or real fabrics... Lovely quilt!
It's wonderful! Hooray for your 30s Thursday posts - so cheerful and colorful.
I purged my 30’s fabric years ago. I still have a scrap or two however. Looks like you are on your way to using up all of yours too.
You have done a fabulous job. You are going to have a nice stack of 30's quilts when you are done.
