I don't know what these 6 x 14 inch blocks are called so I call them Whatchamacallits.
I dig into the 1.5 inch scraps, cut pieces 1.5 x 2.5, cut a neutral pieces the same size chain piece them and then sew 21 of those little units together into a block.
This is a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project carried over from last year. At the end of this year I'm hoping to have enough to sew together into a BIG quilt.
These little 3 inch rail blocks are another Rainbow Scrap Challenge project carried over from last year. They also use 1.5 inch scraps. I'm not sure yet if I'll combine them with another small block, sew them together into 9 or 16 patch blocks by color or just throw them all in a bag, shake them up and sew them together as I pull them out.

I was thinking about you this morning as I spent 3 hours catching up on processing my scraps into strips & bricks & squares. And what I was wondering was....how do you decide what you're going to make with your scraps? That is...what determines the patterns you end up making? Is it just a pattern that has captured your fancy, or do you look specifically for patterns that will utilize a certain size strip of fabric that you're hoping to deplete? I love all the different things you do, and I love your wild color sense. I'm trying to channel my inner Cathy, but perhaps it would just be better if you head over to southeastern Idaho and camp out in my quilt cave for a couple months. You know...to get me pointed in the right direction.
I am "green" with envy at how much you always get accomplished! I also wish that my scraps were better organized. I also wish that I had more space to get organized and room to be able to have a design wall. I spent so much time lately trying to put together a quilt top by laying it out on my bed, then going into the dining room (aka sewing studio) with my blocks to sew them up on my machine. Then to the kitchen to press them and back to the bedroom... The grass is always "greener" isn't it?
After Sally steals the pigs in puddles from you, I'll have to steal them from her! And another life of crime begins. (Maybe we should just start a thieves guild - the Pigs in Puddles Girls...)
I love working with 1.5" strips and scraps! Have fun with them.
