It's a Finish! Burgoyne Surrounded

 Burgoyne Surrounded
93 x 93
Quilted on my DSM

I started this as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project in 2017. I wanted to use up some miscellaneous scrap chunks of fabric so made blocks each month that primarily used the color of the month.  For instance this block used up some blue chunks.

This block used up some pink scraps.
You can kind of see how I very simply quilted it on my DSM - first I quilted diagonally along the chains Then I quilted horizontally and vertically along the sides of the sashing and through the middle of each block.

Then since batting (pellon nature's touch 80/20) instructions require quilting no farther than four inches apart I added more vertical and horizontal lines through each block.

I did minimal quilting - it's difficult to wrestle a quilt this big through a DSM with a small harp.
I used wide bleached muslin for the backing and neutral scraps for the binding.

And I can mark another UFO off the list!

Super nice finish! I totally agree about shoving queen size quilts through a tiny harp space. There's much to be said about walking foot quilting.

Round of applause! This one will be fun to sleep under, for sure! I'd put it on my bed immediately. Hope it's destined for yours.

Your brain and hands must be planning something all the time! Otherwise, I just don't see how you "throw" so many pretty quilts together so quickly! Nice job, again! ---"Love"

Congratulations! And you quilted it, a queen size, on your DSM.
My back would give me fits if I tried something like that, you must
have a good setup, like a chair the right height etc.
Super work.

A fabulous finish! I love the way the small squares diagonals stand out and simultaneously draw your eye to the rest of the design. An amazing job to quilt this size of quilt on your dsm!

Hooray!! BS is finished! It looks fabulous, Cathy! I love the scrappy neutrals in the sashing. I think you've started a Burgoyne trend, too, as I've seen several others in progress.

I LOOOOOOOVE it!!! Yours is much more colorful than mine, so I may have to start another one...
(How many BSs do you think you've inspired since you started this one? Lots and lots, I think!)

Well it's no surprise that this turned out well, but how beautifully all your scrappy blocks sit together.

I have this pattern bookmarked. I even have TWO magazines with the pattern because I saw one for only 10 cents at a garage sale. Someday... I just keep trying to force myself to finishing other things that I have already started. :) You know how that goes...
Gorgeous finish!
