Light Blue 3.5 Inch Scrap Edition

It's a new year for Rainbow Scrap Challenge but I'm not starting any new projects (for now).
This week I worked with my light blue 3.5 inch scraps.
I'm continuing on with six inch Bow Tie blocks and by the end of this year I'll have a big quilt's worth of them.

Last year I made 3 inch Snowballs with light corners so this year I'm making them with dark corners. I will probably alternate light and dark corners in a big quilt similar to what I did with the Lozenges quilt I made a couple of years ago.   Last year I made 227 Snowballs with light corners from 3.5 inch scraps.    If I got to the end of a scrap and there was a 3.5 inch square I had already used in a Snowball I kept it separate and ended up making a nine patch for the orphan pile.   If there was less than a 3.5 square I sewed the pieces into a strip.  I may use those later as a border or a Coins quilt. Who knows?

Got Scraps?

Off to a great start with blues. The coin strip is going to be fun however you decide to use it.

You have the cutest scraps! And the best ideas. I think sticking with good, basic blocks is a great stash-buster and allows for maximum flexibility. That’s the takeaway I’ve learned from you (one of so many) over the years.....

Lots of pretty blues there, Cathy! I like your idea for what to do with the leftover pieces that don't fit in a certain size range.

You can make the most basic shapes look like fun!
You're nudging me closer and closer to those snowballs. The only thing stopping me at this point is the frigid weather keeping me out of my studio. Puts me right off the subject of snow...

Lots of pretty blue blocks! Bowties are a favorite of mine--I should finish joining the rest of my blocks from 2015 (or was it 2014?)

You have started 2018 in your usual (highly productive) way. Lots of lovely BLUE blocks on the works!!

I love bliss. I have twice as many blue scraps than any other color! Your blocks are so small! But when the small blocks are in a quilt it looks soooo good.

I like your bow ties and snowballs. I am considering snowballs too for scraps and as leader/enders. Temecula Quilt Co. is doing a snowball sew along which got me interested but I was too busy with the mystery to start cutting something new at that time.
