I'm still playing with scraps of light blue; the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month.
I call these blocks Whatchamacallits. They are a carry over project from last year.
I first make little units from 1.5 x 2.5 scraps - one light blue and one neutral. I then sew them together into blocks like above that will finish at 6 x 14. Last year I used only my 1.5 scraps to make these but this year I also used my 2.5 scraps.
Maybe by year end I'll have enough for a big quilt.
These little 3 inch rails are also a RSC project carried over from last year. Last year I only used 1.5 inch scraps to make them but this year I'm using scraps out of the 1.5 and 3.5 scrap bins. Again I'm aiming for a large quilt. The blocks size is the same as the 3.5 inch spools I made several years ago and I think it took me 3 year's worth of scraps to make enough spools for a big quilt so I expect you may also see these next year too. Time will tell.

Long term scrap projects are a great way to keep chipping away at the bins. Great additions to your growing collection of blocks.

Scrappy fun! I have an ongoing box of red rails.
Rail are a great choice for using up scraps. I need to get a bit more organized in that directions. Making slabs this year to see of I can bust the stash a bit!
Those are both a great way to use up the smaller pieces, and they can make so many interesting designs! Pretty blues, too!
I'm also a fan of these multi-year block-making projects. (I've got no problem with putting off a decision about size or setting! More time to dither!)
And I'm also always happy to see what you're doing with all your itty bitty bits of fabric. 8)

Oh, now that I have my smallest scraps sorted, I see the allure of your watchamacallit...all the satisfaction of the postage stamp, but a bit of relief from the density. Sign me up!
Love how you systematically work though your different sized scraps to make small blocks which eventually become a great finished quilt like your Spool one. Your posts always inspire me.

You are definitely one of the queens of scrappy quilting, and I just love checking in to see what you're working on every day or so. Just sorting, cutting and storing these mountains of scraps we accumulate takes so much time, and the amazing thing is they never seem to be depleted!

I know you have lots of WIPs, but you also have lots of finishes. I'm curious as to how much sewing time you sneak in daily. I do like your light blue blocks and was wondering if these will be blue and white quilts.

The RSC is the perfect way to use up our scraps even if they end up being long-term carry over projects. :)
