A Finish!

Sunshine Lotto Quilt
To be donated
40 x 58

This was made from some of the 12 inch blocks I won last March from a Sunshine Online Quilt Guild block lotto when the block theme was green.  I didn't make a single one of these blocks - I just added sashing and just like that I had a quilt top!

I quilted it on my DSM using the serpentine stitch at irregular intervals.
I pieced the batting for this. I use a wide zigzag stitch to do that.

I'm getting better at doing the binding by machine as is requested by a lot of the places I donate quilts.

Gosh, you turned those Lotto blocks into a Sunshine quilt very quickly. You certainly machine quilted it fast too. Well done.

This is a lovely finish. The serpentine stitch for machine quilting these donation quilts creates such nice ripples and texture to the quilt. Our quilt ministry group uses that stitch a lot, especially because most of their machines are not FMQ friendly. What stitch do you use for your machine binding, it looks like you have perfected that too.

Great finish. Binding by machine sure would be quicker. I'm sure like anything, it gets better with practice.

The sashing you added worked really well to pull all the blocks together! Nice finish!

WONDERFUL! I love machine binding - once and a very great while I'll finish the binding by hand but it takes forever since I have to stop and start so often to let the thumb joint rest/recover in between.

I love how you placed the hearts in the center. It is a great finish. And quick too.

Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

I'm intrigued how you won a block lotto without any blocks of your own. Did they divide them into two groups?
It's always a good day when we finish a quilt. Congratulations.

That is a really cute quilt with nice sashing and the quilting you did adds a lot of texture. How did you get the quilting done evenly - did you mark the top at all? I'm curious as to how many finishes you will have for January...5 and counting...

That's a fun, scrappy quilt. Congratulations on a great finish all around.
I agree, some lucky person will love this quilt.

Congrats on getting those blocks put together into a quilt and ready to donate. I love using the stitches built into my machine for quilting. I tend to be a walking foot quilter, because I lack the FMQ confidence and hate to "ruin a project" I have worked so hard piecing. I love binding by machine. I learned a technique that is my go-to; called Susie's Magic Binding. It is EASY to do and adds an extra pop to a quilt.

There you go again! At this rate, you're going to finish your '18 in 2018' sometime in April, right?
It always amazes me how you can whip up a magical quilt right out of the air!
