I made enough (I don't remember how many) 8" blocks like this for a full quilt recently. While they were easy enough to make, my first block was put together counter clockwise. I realized it right away but instead of ripping it apart and sewing again, I decided to do them all the same. I don't know if it makes any difference or not, but it will just be for me so I don't care. Needless to say, I have not made any flying geese since.
