Aqua, Teal, etc 3.5 Scrap Edition

Glitter Blocks
From Jen Kingwell's book Quilt Lovely
This are a bit fiddly to make so it's nice to just make a few each month in RSC colors.
The job is much easier if you make templates ala Gayle (Mangofeet) plus she's the one that advised me I could cut these easily from 3.5 inch scraps.

Six inch Bow Ties
I didn't have many 3.5 aqua scraps left after I made Glitter blocks but I did find some more purple scraps hidden away in a baggie so added those in.  This time I remembered the corners are 2 inch pieces and NOT 1.5 inch pieces.  This quilt will end up with a few purple misfits I made last month.  These are scraps so I'm not ripping and remaking.  That rarely happens in this house although I have been known to be a little anal-retentive about a few blocks in my time.  But life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

3 Inch Snowballs with white corners. These corners are 1.5 inches.  Again...just a few aquas but I did find that hidden baggie of purples.    These blocks may go with some 3 inch 9 patches into a quilt. Or not.

Not all quilts need a solid plan to start them;) I had not seen the Glitter blocks before, nice!

Glitter blocks are new to me too but they are so cute. Love the purple/aqua combination in the fabrics. Lots of good work accomplished this week.

I love your glitter blocks. Are you hand piecing them? I've seen several people hand piecing "Glitter" projects recently. Although I have the book the thought of another hand-piecing project at the moment is too daunting.

You have such a nice variety of teal scraps! I love the bowtie blocks and have been thinking of making some. 6 inch blocks seem a doable size.

Nice work on using all those scraps. Amazing that out of the lot of them, there are only one or two that I have in my stash!! We are fortunate to have many, many options.

Love the color combos in the glitter blocks. It's,nice that we can learn from each other on these links. I sure do. Glad to see the larger bow ties. You can enjoy the fabrics more. And the top gets done faster. Have a fun week!

Those teals and blue look gorgeous together. What great "eye candy" that is.

I am leaving my email address because it has been pointed out to me that I am a "no reply" blogger. I am not too good at this blog thing, but I will change that as soon as I figure out how to do it!

I had to laugh when you said you tend to be "anal retentive." I am the same way but my husband always tells me I should say "detail oriented!" The older I get, the more I realize that most of the things I was so compulsive about (such as the "right" way to load the dishwasher!) really don't matter.

I'm planning on making some Glitter blocks as soon as I finish my Adinkra quilt top. I am debating whether to turn add triangles to avoid the partial piecing. I figure I will make a small quilt (maybe 8 blocks or so) just to have the satisfaction of having made them.

I usually don't like glitter, but for you I'll make an exception. I'm loving your turquoise and purple...they play so well together.

You must have quite a few glitter blocks now. Will you be able to set them together is a crown soon?
