A Quilt of Valor

Quilt of Valor
60 x 84

I hope to surprise my brother-in-law, Bert, a veteran, with this on Veteran's Day.  I just have to remember to get it mailed off when it's closer to time.  I need to finish one more Quilt of Valor for the three veteran family members I hope to surprise - my nephew, my sister's husband and my husband's brother.

I used 140 six inch blocks - some left over Twinklers from a past Quilt of Valor, some Chunky Churn Dashes from a swap and some Snowballs.

I quilted it on my DSM with some freemotion loops and stars.

I pieced a few fabrics for the back.

This is also goal #2 in my list   for     Q3 Finish-A-Long.

I liked it before and love it now it is done. I really like how the red, white and blue works with this block design - bet it's going to be well appreciated!

So many of the official quilts of valor that I see seem to exude a slick polished look. Yours has a definite home made-in the best sense of that term-comfort filled and snuggle loving look to it. I hope that your family can appreciate these special quilts for decades to come.

Great use of orphan blocks. But it doesn't look like you used orphans. A very fun scrappy quilt.

A meaningful QOV for your brother-in-law. The scrappy look and bits from different projects looks like you really cared. BTW, my post is acting weird, just hit the Home button and it will show up.
