It's A Top!

It's a top!
60 x 84

These are 12 inch blocks made with 4.5 inch squares and 4.5 inch width scraps.

I found more than enough HSTs already made in the Parts Department.

I also had both light and dark 4.5 inch squares in the Parts Department.

So all I had to do was make 35 QSTs, piece blocks and assemble top.

Someone sent me an inspiration photo they said was found on Pinterest. I was inspired by the photo to make some blocks from scraps.

I later used Google Lens to track down further info about the photo and found it pinned on Pinterest and the maker on Instagram. I'm not on Instagram but could see enough info about the quilt to see that a Finnish lady has a pattern for it called "Busy Quilt" if you are interested in a pattern. I'm not sure what size her blocks are or what size squares, etc. she used to make her quilt.

And sew on...

A Finish

It's a finish!

42 x 52.5

I made this quilt to use up 4 inch width scraps and squares. Blocks finish at 10.5 inches.

There's lots of novelties in this one!

I quilted it on my sewing machine with horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.

The backing is a floral.

I am now working on a scrappier and bigger version of this quilt using 4.5 inch width scraps and squares.

And sew on...

My oldest son and I cut a lot of scrub brush and fallen trees along the barbed wire fence that separates my cottage garden and our field of soy beans. The big mulberry tree branches fell several by years ago and I have been unable to cut them up myself. My little chain saw only cuts branches up to six inches in diameter.  The fallen branches are still alive and have been leafing and branching out since they fell. Most of the scrub brush is honeysuckle. All of the mulberry and honeysuckle were shading a tree peony, a couple of roses and some oriental lilies and I was so afraid I might lose them after another year in all that shade.  Oh I am so happy there is sunshine where once there was shade. And I do hope I don't have poison ivy now because I saw a big patch of it. So far no rash!

Tomorrow I think I will tackle the weeds that have popped up in the veg garden after all the recent rainfall.

Another Complete Block Set

10.5 inch finished blocks
Made with 4 inch squares, 4 inch unfinished QSTs and 4 inch unfinished HSTs.
20 blocks are finished for a small comfort quilt in a 4 x 5 layout that will finish at 42 x 52.5.

Someone sent me an inspiration photo they said was found on Pinterest. I still had some 4 inch squares left after making the Hollow Nine Patch blocks I blogged about yesterday so decided I would also make this with 4 inch squares following the inspiration photo (no pattern) to make blocks.

I later used Google Lens to track down further info about the photo and found it pinned on Pinterest and the maker on Instagram. I'm not on Instagram but could see enough info about the quilt to see that a Finnish lady has a pattern for it called "Busy Quilt" if you are interested. I'm not sure what size her blocks are or what size squares, etc. she used to make her quilt.

And now I have another complete block set ready for the SAR (Some Assembly Required) bin to be assembled at a future date.  This month I have just been scrap processing when I have a few moments.

I am thinking I might have enough squares and scraps for two other larger comfort quilts - one with blacks and whites and another with browns and creams.

Going where the scraps take me and enjoying the journey!

And sew on...
