Big Stitch Hand Quilting

I've been doing some big stitch hand quilting on my "Roses in December" quilt top I finished back in December 2021.  It's a big 86 x 103 so it is nice to have on my lap keeping me warm while I'm quilting. I'm not using a hoop for this one. For now I'm stitching an eyeballed 1/4 inch or so on each side of all the very long seam lines.

And sew on...

I'm sure the quilt feels good on your legs while you are quilting, much better than in July or August! Enjoy your big stitching!

A beautiful apropos quote for a beautiful quilt. I admire all you hand quilters. I’ve enjoyed embroidery, cross stitch, knitting, and crochet but never could get the knack of hand quilting. Since big stitch uses a slightly thicker thread how are you able to bury thread knots? Similar to regular thread? I continue to enjoy your blog ❤️ - Beth in AL

Ah, roses. We have had nothing but snow and ice and I am craving growing flowers. Your work is so comforting and lovely on a day like today.

This is the perfect time to cuddle under a blanket of roses! I was expecting your stitches to be longer than that. Maybe I need to find the definition of big stitching because yours look small to me. The quilting looks really nice.
