What's In The Hoop?

Now that it is cooler I thought I should get something pin basted and in the hoop for hand quilting.  I decided on a smaller quilt (50 x 62.5)-- Peppermint Twist. I finished the top back in October 2018.

I pounced on some circles and big stitched in red on the lines and in white in between the lines.
I think this might be too much quilting and I am thinking of ripping out the white stitching. Before I do that, though, I will mark and stitch another square like I was just thinking. If that looks okay then I will rip out the white on this one. And if it doesn't? Hmmmmm....

I bet those quilting lines will look fine once the chalk marks are gone. Very fun fabrics together!

Ooh, I love those blocks! I think probably only one color (your choice, of course), would be enough quilting, but both colors would make the blocks really special. I'd never be able to get even one color quilted on the blocks. I like your idea to try the next block with one color, and then decide. ---"Love"

Good approach to making the decision! Sometimes it's hard to know when enough is enough!

That is such a fun design! I think the extra quilting will add a lot of texture to it, but could make the quilting take longer than you want it to. I guess it is meant to be slow stitching, though! :)

Your Peppermint Twist quilt is going to be SEW darling when it's all quilted, Cathy!! Enjoy the process.

The circles stitching is a great choice. Your idea of auditioning the two sorts of stitching is a good one and you will know immediately which you prefer. Happy stitching.

Love those big, red quilting stitches. Those circles are wonderful and beautifully bright.

I did a head slap!! Chalk lines. Why didn't I think of that on a jacket I'm stitching patches to.

That is a fun quilt. I guess big stitching is not supposed to be as dense as regular quilting? I haven't tried my hand at that yet
