I have lots of little 3 inch 9 patches. Some are ironed...
...some are not.
I usually make the when I get to the end of a piece of fabric and have at least 3 - 1.5 inch strips. But sometimes I just throw that end piece into the 4.5 inch scrap pile.
I've turned the little nine patches into 5 inch Sister's Choice blocks and made the above quilt.
I've added a few navy hexies and bright solid triangles to the bright little nine patches and made a Jack's Chain quilt
I'm working on Jack's Chain #2 which is bigger and uses darker little nine patches, neutral hexies and muslin triangles.
I also have a couple of other ideas (only in my head for now) for these little cuties.
I'd like to swap some 3 inch 9 patches.
See the tab at the top of my blog for further info.
Due May 15
I've already received some from 2 swappers but haven't peeked into the packages yet.
Use those scraps!

Nine patches are one of my most favorite blocks! So many fun things to do with them.
I love love love your Jack's Chain quilts - it's on my list of gotta-get-to-soons!
(And I was surprised to see a couple of fabrics in that first photo that we actually have in common!)
I'm in awe! Both of these are fantastic! Thanks for the inspiration. I've not been sewing much lately. Some personal things have led me astray but now, because of these pictures, I want to get in there and sew right now! One of my distractions had been that my sewing room was messy. Caused by an older relative sending me things they thought I couldn't "live without". Those things have now found their own "homes" and there is room to sew once more. Thanks again for the inspiration!
Lots of inspiration in this post. Love the idea of using the small 9Ps as centres for the stars in your Sister's Choice quilt.
You are going to talk me into keeping smaller scraps with these quilts. I usually stop at 2.5" squares but maybe I need to go smaller. I love every quilt you make with these little gems. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
I love both of those quilts - such a good job and so scrappy a favorite of mine
I love the way you have used your 9 patches. Your quilts are lovely!
Wow! Great inspiration! I love both of your quilts, and now I want to make sweet little nine patches!
such wonderful quilts especially liking Jack`s chain quilt seem more drawn to quilts with dark fabrics than light. Those 3" blocks are a delight far too fiddly for me though but now I see you use strips which makes life easier, have a box full of strips maybe I will now put them to use. and make some nine patch blocks
Wow, I love all three of these quilts but where do you find the time to sew that many little blocks and then sew them all together. I'm impressed. If it ever stops raining here, I'll have to get out in the garden, so there will be less time for sewing.

Wow! Those quilts are striking! And as many of the comments before me express, they really are inspiring to make me want to make one! Thanks for sharing!
I love the navy Jack's Chain quilt! Thanks for some of your numbers near the top of this post. Some day I'm going to try this one, if I live long enough! You are an inspiration to many quilters; I hope you know that! ---"Love"
Wow - such a simple block that can be turned into so many different and gorgeous quilts!
