It's a Finish!

Happy Blocks with a school theme.
40 x 60

(Good thing I took photos yesterday because there's 2 inches of snow out there today).

I have a big box of Happy Blocks in various sizes and themes. I used to participate in a lot of novelty/I Spy swaps and when I had scraps I would make a few Happy Blocks and throw them in a box (aka Happy Place) .  Now when I need a quick quilt I dig around in that Happy Place.  I had about half of these 10 inch school themed blocks made already so got busy and made a few more.

I was inspired by Julie's " Blowing Bubbles"  quilting so gave that a try on my DSM.

And, hey!...Look who's getting a little better at machine binding!  (I really don't like the look of machine binding [or the process] but it is requested by a lot of the places I send quilts for kids.)

I pieced the batting and backing.  I had this remnant of fabric with ABCs on it so thought it was perfect to throw into the mix.

It's a Mysterious Finish!

 I guess I don't need to name a quilt I'm donating.
This is the result of a magical mystery quilt along with Libby who blogs at Life on the Hill.

48 x 48

I used up some old floral bits and pieces and chunky scraps  - a lot of them daisies - and had some fun doing it.
There were several ways to layout the mystery blocks. I chose fields and furrows.

I quilted it on my DSM with some very free form daisies.
The backing and binding are full of roses.

And those scraps were sure put to good use.

Owls in the Barn Door

Owls in the Barn Door
48 x 60
It's just a top right now.

I thought it would be clever to shoot the Owls in the Barn Door next to an actual barn door but didn't notice the hunk of crap that blew into the raspberry brambles in front of the barn door.  So, I am not as clever or artsy- fartsy as I thought I was.

Anyway...after completed this will go to Camp Hobe, one of this year's Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge Charities.   Camp Hobe is a summer camp for kids undergoing cancer treatment and their siblings.

Now to go piece some batting and find a backing...

I hope to finish this up asap so making it my

Happy Butterflies

Happy Butterflies
50 x 50

I have a box of Happy Blocks (I call it a Happy Place) of various sizes and themes. I used to use my scraps that way (bordering a central square) and when I got enough of them in any particular theme that might look good together I'd sew them into a quilt.  It's nice to have a happy place whenever you need to assemble a quilt quickly.

I found enough 10 inch butterfly themed blocks bordered in blues, purples and oranges to make this quilt for the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge. I will send it for Happy Chemo.

I added some pieced batting and quilted it with some very free form five-petaled flowers on my DSM.

I had enough of this flowery fabric in my stash for the back and binding.
