Hollow Nine Patch Top

It's a top!
Hollow Nine Patch
42 x 52.5

I'm trying to empty a box of 4 inch width scraps that I have accumulated over the years from others. I usually have a couple of Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) projects going for each width of scraps but sometimes I just have so many odd lengths of different colors so I decide to just see how many comfort quilts I can make to empty the box.

For this quilt I made Hollow Nine Patch blocks. All the squares came from the box I'm trying to empty.

Since I ended up with blocks with a lot of different values I decided to put lightest blocks on top and work down to the darkest.

The box of 4 inch width scraps I've been working from is a large flat rate USPS box.

So far I've made the following tops/block sets with scraps in that box:

1. Yankee Puzzle Top

3. Blue/Orange Four Patch Top (also added orange solid)

4. Basket Weave (also added orange solid)

5. Four Patch and Two Rails (brown, orange, yellow)

10. This top - Hollow Nine

I have one more post to go about that box of 4 inch width scraps and then I will maybe move on to another box.

And sew on...

We will be leaving in a little bit for an hour drive to Iowa City for hubby's pre-surgical and ENT appointments. Hopefully they will give him a date for surgery to repair his jaw fracture. The antibiotic he has been on for about six weeks seems to have taken care of the jaw bone infection.

After several days of thunderstorms and high winds, high temps and humidity we have a BEAUTIFUL day. The sun is shining and the humidity is lower and temp is about 30 degrees cooler now than it has been.

Wohoo! This looks terrific as the "heavy" bottom pops my eyes back up to look at the entire flimsy again to figure it out :-) FUN!
